• New game mechanic idea. be nice

Right off the bat, let me say I don't want to nerf players who are doing well for themselves, so cool your jets. Really simple idea (please build on my idea if you think there's something there) that could add variety and balance to experience *easy to implement*: A new meter. let's call it "survival". 100 red is stressed, 100 green is surviving, 0 is neutral. Kill a human player, + 10 stress; kill an npc zombie human, + 2.5 Kill an *animal*, + 10 survival; fully harvest a tree; woodpile; rock, + 2.5 effects: "surviving" +(X/4)% [0 - 25%] running speed boost, resistance to physical damage "stressed" hunger increases X% [up to 2 times as fast] faster than otherwise, mild insane adrenaline rush screen effect. The effect looked milder in photoshop, but I don't have the time to waste redoing it, you get the idea. You'd have to kill 10-20 people or 40-80 zombies in a row for it to get annoying
Stress from killing players can affect running speed + adds a kinda blur to the screen to show anxiety or something. It would defintely help with all the assholes with m4's, and kevlar armor shooting new spawns.

No, this is stupid. The whole point of this game is survival and pvp, killing is the only end game.

When someone asks you in a year "rust? what do you do in rust?", do you really want say: "you spend the first 2 hours finding and crafting the best gun, then you kill people trying to do the same until you decide to stop playing"?

PVP is the style of the game garry will soon add new npc's to replace the zombies more guns and wepons different ways to gather and get food and all kinds of ideas for survival... this game is based on real shit if the world turns to rust and i dont think your idea would happen in the real world. and before you say "oh you can craft a gun out of metal fragments and blah blah blah" it is still a game and garry could make a harder way to make guns anytime he wants. at least it's metal and not rubber fragments or something stupid like that.
What were to happen if our survival was low?

I wouldn't even say that. I'm aware it's in alpha and will become much more feature rich. this probably wouldn't even take a whole day to code in and it could increase playability in the mean-time. Your post should really be quoting the other guy [editline]4th September 2013[/editline]
What were to happen if our survival was low?
I gave suggestions for what would happen in the OP. It's a scale from |-100 to 100|
This would limit players, which as I've said before, is against "Here's a game, now do whatever the fuck you want" mentality. If players want to be bandits, they can be bandits. Usually when you kill somebody in an intense fight, in real life you're stressed or worked up because you were afraid you were going to lose everything. Sometimes even adrenaline pops (God I hope it isn't just me :v:) and then when you win you're nervous and everything. In survival games like Rust, there's no need to add a stress system. It already exists in our minds.
