Personally I think the PC version (and I guess only version) of Rust is quite hard because there's just too many buttons to press.
Is there a way we can bring Rust on the Xbox One or something? Thanks

They're exploring porting Rust to consoles, but they're focusing on making it for PCs first.

Forget about the PC! Why should you have Rust on PC when there's too many buttons?
Tell you what, you play with a controller and I'll destroy you with keyboard and mouse.
joysticks are the worst things ever to play on any FPS vs a mouse. Way better for fighting games and racing games but FPS? screw that noise.
and xbox controllers work on PC's, wirelessly and cheaply.
dont give them ideas, let them create the game here first, been long enough
William, didn't you hear?? It's going to be a Ouya exclusive using their new bluetooth mind controller!
i am hoping that when the DEVs talk of porting to console they are on about the Steam Console not XBOX or Playstation (won't bother with Nintendo it's dead lol)
and if steam get the controller right we might end up changing our minds that keyboard and mouse are the interface for 1st person gaming , but for now keyboard/mouse out shine any controller i have tried.
Ps3 pads work i use mine for arcade games, how to survive, need for speed ect.. the program i use is motioninjoy it's free are highly configuration,

In order for Rust to be brought to console, the PC version would have to be completed first. We're long ways away, my friend.

If i Know that i would be making Steam pay me An extortionate amount of money :)
but they have put the release date back nearly a year to put more development into the controller.
here is some info on it.

The devs are planing to port to consoles, will probably go to SteamOS first because it's easier (it's basicaly the linux version of the game), but IIRC they will really start to think about it when the game hits full release, we're still in alpha so you'll have to wait a really long time. For now they're trying to make the UI be both confortable for PCs and console users. Besides, like it was said you can play with your controller using a software, I'm sure there are plenty out there really easy to find
FPS games are not that good on consoles because of the joysticks. It restricts your aim (that's why console games have auto aim). Either way this game has to be complete before a console can handle it.
Epic failed with UT3 by bringing it to consoles aswell (and other reasons) why they're not doing it for the next one.
Hope facepunch is smart enough to not make the same mistake as epic did with UT3.
Only thing good coming out of bringing it to multiple platforms is making more money while the game suffers for it and pissing people off ofcourse.
If you sometimes think PC gamers in Rust are unfriendly/annoying, don't even start to imagne how thats going to be on a console....
One of the reasons I stopped playing consoles online is that of the audience using it. Yes there are some pretty decent people there, but the majority consists of people I don't want to play with
here is Facepunch studio's official stand on this subject.
"We recently got some devkits. I want to explain where we are with consoles.. because there’s been a lot of speculation on the forums and on twitter.
So with Rust, we are planning to port it to consoles. We haven’t started that process yet. We’re not planning anything until we’ve tried to get it running on one of the consoles and know what problems we’re going to face. It’s important to emphasise here that we’re porting TO consoles. We’re not making a dumbed down console version and then porting it back to the PC. So might happen, might not. Depends on a bunch of stuff. Either way neither the PS4 or XBone have any kind of early access program as far as I know, so it will be a while away.
The Steam Box has made us a bit more free. We can spend time making games that play awesome on the TV but don’t really shine in front of a PC. It’s not a risk anymore for us. It’s because of Steam Box we feel free to work on games like that. Even if they never reach the other consoles they now have a place on Steam. There’ll still be people who want to play them.
TLDR: We love the PC. It’ll always be our main target. We’ll always be porting away from it, not to it. We won’t ever sign exclusivity deals. You’ll always get our games on the PC first. "
this was taken from here http://www.facepunchstudios.com/2014/02/13/console-development/
On the topic of the handicap controller users have in FPSs, Garry has also said that he doesn't care if console players on controllers get wrecked by keyboard+mouse players in cross-platform play.
god why do I have to press 4 buttons to move!? Why WASD!! Joystick so much bettur
I've always wondered about the way Unity works, like how porting would work since it already can be used to make games on xbox and ps3
This is a case of severe Peasntry

pc hard to use? its superior to controllers in every way
not many buttons at all on pc,
only numbers and flash light laser and w d s a for walking t for typing chat, v for voice chat

It's just stupid people who are too lazy to remember a few keys as opposed to six or five buttons on a controller.

To many buttons to press? You should try DayZ: Mod. :suicide:
Controllers are much superior for character movement and feel better for shooting (pull a trigger vs click a button) but no match in aiming speed and precision for a mouse.
The only way a controller is going to be able to compete in Rust would be to give the controller some auto-aim, or reduce the range and accuracy of weapons to promote close quarters battles where controllers do well.
I'd be quite glad to see range and accuracy reduced, current values mean you can kill people very easily from a long way off, promotes KoS because whoever opens fire first is very likely to win.
Let's look at the downsides for Rust on console:
Paying for online
No more mods/steam community (assuming we get to that point in the future)
Rarely any updates

Oh, did I mention paying for online?
