Me and a couple of friends were using hacks as a countermeasure to hackers

kinda dumb though, I was using hacks on my own server seems as the admin teleport commands and shit for Rust are totally useless.. feel slightly cheated by this but whatever i guess the fact of the matter is i was using hacks and hacks are baddd hmmkay

no im not saying it wasnt a stupid move and that i probably dont deserve it, and you dont just ban someone cause some kid screams "ogm hacker", you teleport to them so you can see the user hacking for yourself. you use the teleport command and you either rubber band back to where you were or you get kicked for speedhacks or whatever, but with the hacks you could zip across the map in no time at all and catch them in the act.

you should be banned for lying out your ass and being retarded.
The rubber banding from teleporting works the exact same way as the rubber banding from stopping speed hacks. No matter what method you used to update your Coordinates if the coordinates updated beyond a certain threshold you were kicked from the server..
You could have turned this feature off by toggling truth.enforce true/false which is what is governing your player location server side.. since your an admin.

Ive seen other admins actually use hacks ONLY to enforce the server rules. Dont know if they disabled truth.enforce or not, and I hope they arent banned... We kind of knew this was coming tho, and being a really good admin (by doing this) is just amazing imo.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I believed that the VAC wasn't in a working state like the rest of the hackers, i took a chance to try and stop mine and others shit being cleared out constantly and it blew up in my face, im not sat here saying 'ogm garry pls email ur best bud gabe and get my vac ban lifted pls' im simply stating that hacking will not be a problem thanks to the update + a sweep of VAC bans being carried out, seems as ive seen a handful of people still worried hacking will be massive still. The thing im most bothered about is just having a VAC ban on record. i liked my clean account :v:

Except by buying hacks you're supporting the very people we're trying to stop. How does buying hacks somehow makes the hackers on your server go away? Just ban them like everyone else...

In many cases a hacker can loot shit, and run off before an admin can get to him, or maybe theyre offline etc. Being able to speedy-stalk someone with invis clothes on to catch someone noclipping has probably led to at least a ban or two. Being able to spawn in items as compensation is tedious work and most admins dont just ban on a single acusation. When the admin can run up to speedhackers, noclip into noclipers etc theyre not doing anything worthy of hate imo.
Its worthy of a VAC ban yes, but this admin seems to be at peace with that, which makes him awesome imo. The guy probably didnt "buy" the hack, because internet.
Im not trying to say "dont ban these guys" because that would be retarded. Im just trying to make someone who just lost 15 euros worth of game trying to be a good guy feel better, while youre pissing in his face.
Say what you will, taking that ban like a man means earning respect.
(There is of course a possibility of him using the hacks because he wanted to hack, in which case hes a fucking game-breaking douchebag who should be raped multiple times by rabid wolves in a cold, dank alley somewhere in Poland.)
These people lack the understanding on how hacking and hacker prevention works.
There's hackers who hack into servers and corporations that are paid by the corporations themselves in order to find weaknesses
in their network as well as any possible backdoors. That being said, they need the understanding of the hackers that are doing
these things, as well as doing things from their perspective and to catch those who are doing these intrusions by knowledge and
skill. In reality these people are hackers just the same as those who made those illegal intrusions but they hold strong to their
creed in ethical use of their abilities and knowledge.
In your case, you're downloading the program these "hackers" (They're actually - in real hacker terms - "[URL="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Script_kiddie"]Script Kiddies[/URL]") are using
to get a view of what they see and what they're doing. With this you get an idea of how to identify if they're using these exploits
as you understand - for the most part - how they work. With this you were able to catch them in the act, and nail them yourself.
All the people who are raging about this are letting their emotions control their judgement. What you did was excellent and though
unfortunately you were banned also in the process, you made sure who were hacking and who weren't.
Good on you, sir. Hopefully you'll be allowed to play again.

Hacker and scriptkiddie are actually words to describe network-related intrusions etc. These people are neither. Theres the douchebags who modified a game (guess the term would be "cracker") and the people using their programs to be assholes.
There are hackers, people who find weaknesses in networks/computers to gain access, and then theres crackers, who modify programs. Scriptkiddie is a hacker-exclusive term (like wiresharking wifi-keys and other stupid shit) by using someone elses software. Dont know if there actually is a cracker-exclusive term so feel free to make up a word for yourself.
What were seeing here are "cheaters" really. And we use the word "Hacker" much like we call FPS-drops Lag when thats really just a latency issue.
Also; Nobody cares :). Lets just stick to Laggy and Hackers for simplicity.
