GET A BETTER COMPUTER
my fps dropped from 45 at 1280*854 to 20 fps. I play at 30fps or lower on 1024*768 since the rocks update.
"get a better computer"
well, not as long as my pc runs BF3-64players at 40-50fps at 1050*1680p, I don't wanna void warenty by installing a new GPU and PSU just for Rust. I hope the steam release brings along better performance...
buy alienware
You can increase your framerate by setting the power options of your computer to high performance.
Other opportunity are playing in windowed mode or reducing your graphics (via the options screen or ingame chat: grass.on flase)
buy alienware
Let that stay in the Just Cause 2 MP mod community as their dumb forced meme, don't bring it here as well.
or reducing your graphics (via the options screen or ingame chat: grass.on flase)
I'll definately try the "grass.on false" command, all other settings were low allready.

guess what, my pc has the same GPU as a 1 year old alienware x51 (gt545) and a core I5, and I also put everything on lowest
It's really unplayable for me as well since last update as with everything disabled and graphics to 0% im having stuttering too (not so much) but the real killer for me is input delay. I'm having huge delay issues on everything (mouse and keyboard).
Imagine the known bug that existed on big stairways with fire nearby but amplified by 10 times.

My PC hardly runs BF of high ( 30 FPS max I get )
I can run Rust at 25-40 FPS while in fulscreen and 1366x783 resolution.
Everyone who is crying about rust not running good and lagging like hell.
SEARCH FOR A SOLUTION, DON'T JUST BITCH ON THE FORUMS!
And for those who don't want to do the "Work" themselves. Here:
1:How To guide for max FPS
2: While in game. Open console and type "grass.on false"
3: CLOSE EVERY OTHER APPLICATION LIKE SKYPE,ORIGIN,UTTORENT. OR ANY OTHER APPLICATION THAT USES PRECIOUS NETWORK SPEED AND RAM!
Its not the rocks that are causing low fps its the grass.
Put graphics on low, disable any filtering or antialiasing, and try "grass.on false" in console.
Its not the rocks that are causing low fps its the grass.
Both are causing the FPS problems.
Everyone, just be patient for the next week and a half until they place it on Steam.

Oh, I'm gonna enjoy doing this.
1) We are not talking about BF3, nor making comparison with other games. We are directly making a comparison based on the fact that before the update part of the community was able to play the game. Instead, now, some of the guys are experiencing huge FPS drops.
2) We are not interested if you can run the game, we already know that not everyone has this problem.
3) Some people might be crying, some might be worried.
Funny thing is that with development you usually improve towards the quality of the end-product.
Seeing how people bought the game, were able to play and enjoy it and now they simply can't do it anymore might be frustrating for some.
4) Using CAPS won't do you any good, nor make you look like some kind of know-all type of guy. Most of the guys that complain about this have already tried running the game on different browsers, turning in-game settings to low and disabling grass.

Placing it on steam doesn't necessarily mean that they are fixing the huge FPS drop caused by the rocks. Generally running the game without the browser should improve overall stability, but the game will still be running in the same engine, with the same rocks that are causing the huge FPS drop.
Unless they actually fix the issue by either removing some of the rocks, or place in a slider so that people can set the view distance, hence making some of the far rocks and terrain not rendered in their FOV, people will still complain.
Please do us all a favor and stop posting on the forums. It just shows how ignorant you are.
I wish I could even see the rocks...
Unity keeps crashing since they got added... tested in 3 browsers using this hardware...

Ah. Well now. Let's see.
If I remember correctly, there was this one situation where a guy asked another user on the forums to "Stop Posting" He got perma-banned for that.
I am responding to the person who said that He can run BF3 better than Rust. I answered him to that, I was not telling "OO HOO! EVERYONE LEWK! I KEN RUN BF3 BETTER THAN U"
My reply was simply to tell people that there is a chance to run the game better if they would search around the forums, bitching has never helped anyone.
If you are trying to look all "Serious" ( Or whatever you are trying to accomplish ) You're not.
I used "CAPS" So that people would see the highlited areas, cause some individuals of the forums just quickly read trough the posts without getting to the point.
Placing the game on Steam will increase the games FPS alot, since it being on the weblaper causes alot of issues ( Garry's words, not mine. Do some research before trying to make someone look stupid )
People always complain, and that is not the point of this conversation, so don't try to change it.
I'll probably get bitched at for this but seriously? Helk worked hard to make the map better and it is WAY awesome! It sucks that your computers can't handle it now but it is a game. Most games have minimum computer requirements and if your crap computer can't handle it, that's your problem. The development of the game and other gamers shouldn't have to suffer because you can't or won't get a gaming computer. :-/ I know that's harsh but it's true. And I myself speak from playing on a laptop that wasn't spec'd for gaming. It bothered me, so I built a better computer.
I'm just sad that you are all bitching so much, asking them to make the game WORSE for everyone, when the devs are working hard to make the game better :-(

I partly agree with you.
But the problem isn't with peoples computers ( Most of the time )
It is just that the game is in a webplayer, and that makes it lag like hell since it all needs to go trough the browser.
Internet browsers are not made for heavy games like Rust. That is why they will move the game to Steam in 1/2 weeks from now. You just need to be patient.
There will always be people who say "Remove dis" "Add Dat" "Ur game suks cuz u no listen to players" You just need to learn to ignore 'em. Players don't know how it is to make a game, they ask for things without knowing the consequences
Although the FPS has always been an issue for me I'm used to playing at 10-15-20 and sometimes over 20. And turning the grass off while playing REALLY helps out with FPS/lag for me. It doesn't solve it completely but it helps :)!
I can't play it too. There's fault on both sides, mine for not having a potent enough computer, them for not having optimized the map yet.
So I'll wait hoping the steam release and some optimization allows me to play this game again. But it's also part of the developing making the game stable for the players, just saying... but as this is an early alpha, people should wait for the devs moves.

See I think it is their computers, mine doesn't lag at all and it's still just in a browser like anyone else's. :-/ I don't have some super expensive high end gaming computer either. I built my own for a couple hundred bucks and it does just fine. I know there will always be squeaky wheels, I just feel bad for Helk because he's been working so hard on this map and they're calling it stupid and being completely ungrateful. :-/

Waste of money, get razor..
I downloaded the Nightly web browser and I haven't been lagging anymore. Whenever the rocks were added I used chrome and my fps dropped to like a constant 10 and before I could play on the highest settings without any lag. But I downloaded Nightly and I don't lag anymore.
Waste of money, get razor..
Waste of money, make your own...
Personally I have not noticed a significant change in framerate on my rig since the update. Though to be fair, they really do need to add either low-quality long-distance models and/or distance fade the rock models.

Alienware? HAH! Alienware is a Dell brand and I am sure everyone here knows that dell is Crap. If you want to buy a gaming PC, buy a Razor, otherwise, save yourself some cash and build one yourself.
