• Farming? Suggestion: Drugs!

As farming will be added in future I came up with some item ideas and added them to the item editor. A farming system may allow for drug growing and narcotrafficking! The player could obtain cannabis seeds from airdrops or rarely from crates. Cannabis seeds planted into soil will grow to cannabis plants with cannabis leaves. Harvesting a cannabis plant may give the player 4-8 cannabis leaves and sometimes a new cannabis seed. Cannabis leaves can be dryed at a campfire to obtain dryed cannabis leaves (or charcoal if you don't keep an eye on your campfire!) which can ultimately be used to craft a joint (should be balanced to take some time to obtain enough leaves). There is also a new use for paper, just saying. A joint has 50 charges and works like a torch: one charge is consumed per second in use. Using a joint will grant the player characters buffs over a duration. The longer he smokes (the more charges he uses) the longer and stronger the buff will be. I see improved perception, speed, increased weight carrying and analgesia (when injured/crippled) as plausible buffs. Smoking too much leads to addiction - the character has to smoke joints to avoid withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms may be debuffs (reduced perception, speed and lowered may health, maybe damage over time / poison). Depending on the strength of addiction, the withdrawal symptons may be stronger/longer. The number of joint-charges the character has to consume may also differ depending on the addiction state. An addicted character may also receive weaker / shorter buffs per jointcharge and no buffs at all as long as there is withdrawal. A player can stand through a withdrawal as well (caving in with enough food/water, meds etc. ;)) to clean himself from the addiction. On another note: brewing beer could work similar with less addiction.
But.. but.. think of the poor children who are playing the game! They would thinks drugs are good for them as they give them superpowers!
If added, drugs should only have negative effects (like you shouldn't be able to aim correctly).
But.. but.. think of the poor children who are playing the game! Marijuana is becoming increasingly more tolerated in the U.S I don't see a problem with it being in a modern game. FP would also be one of the first to introduce it into a game. Additionally, they do have a "Durgs Discussion" forum on their front page. Therefore, I would also conclude drugs aren't completely against their morals. That being said, I do believe Marijuana would be the only drug suitable for the game. Because yes, I understand children will stay play Rust. But lets face it, Marijuana ISN'T as bad for you as alcohol. (Which I'm sure will make it into the game eventually) Also, I don't agree with most of what the author of the thread said. But, I do think it would be nice to have a use for paper, and have something to relieve injuries. This could be one of those things. Could reduce the period of injury for each second the joint is burning.
If added, drugs should only have negative effects (like you shouldn't be able to aim correctly).
Yes, after smoking for injury, you won't shoot as well for maybe 60 secs?
If added, drugs should only have negative effects (like you shouldn't be able to aim correctly).
But then they would be senseless if self-consumed. Suggestions: - Use drugs for smoke grenades to confuse the target - Use drugs to poison food and give the food to other people
Rust is not darkRP
lol..... really bro? this isnt altis life
Yep, if you wanna survive, first thing you do is start a weed plantation. That's the ABC of survival, man.
I think like when you are on your own with no friends your stress level will rise and rise, making you craft longer and hear things in game which are not their, in that case you can find drug towns with marijuana plants which you can scavange and smoke a doobie, which lowers your stress level
Shot 6 peepz? No problem.. Mr.Drugs will be there for you when you get home.

Especially when the stresslevel changes depending on day/night time, lightsources, wild animals or other hazards...
im amazed no one has made the obvious comment about if pot was implemented. One side effect would be your hunger rate would increase requiring more food faster
Whe you said drugs i was looking for a sistem where you create pills for infections and all that, Lol.

Oh and you don't dry the leaves to smoke you dry the flower (bud) of the plant, the leaves contain little to no THC in them. However, I don't believe they will put something like this in the game, don't worry though once they release the game modders will make Rust more interesting.

Should be similar to Fallout in terms of drugs. Like you hit harder but have blurry vision, or you can't walk a straight line but you run faster/lose hunger slower, or you have less max health until you drink some water and sit by a campfire.
I do believe Marijuana would be the only drug suitable for the game. Because yes, I understand children will stay play Rust.
Children playing? Doesn't matter, this game is 18+ for a reason. If drugs will be added they should not restrict it to marijuhana, that wouldn't be realistic. What could work would be to only bring natural drugs (no chemistry) to the game.. And that could even work great (if done correctly) .. just think about the effect shrooms could give you: See things that aren't really there (enemies, walls, ...), don't see things that are there... Facepunch could even try to exchane sounds/visuals... instead of hearing the gun fire near you you have a short black "explosion" in front of your eyes... and combined with this:
Use drugs to poison food and give the food to other people
It would simply be awesome.
This sounds familiar... oh yea, GMod RP servers. No thanks.
Yep, if you wanna survive, first thing you do is start a weed plantation. That's the ABC of survival, man.
Yup that's what I was thinking.
If added, drugs should only have negative effects (like you shouldn't be able to aim correctly).
I suggested a while back a drug that could make you run faster, but affected your hand coordination. So a "run away" drug. Commits you to running by decreasing your combat ability. Good for loners who see a bandit team approaching them.
so you want to get high... in a video game... wow
so you want to get high... in a video game... wow
its the new cool thing to do.
Yep, if you wanna survive, first thing you do is start a weed plantation. That's the ABC of survival, man.
Exactly: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1821352/ ;) //EDIT: And to add something to the shroom idea: There could be normal shrooms and psychedelic shrooms that look familiar, so you would have to look close to not eat the wrong one. If you eat the wrong one (or somebody mixed it into your food) don't think about logging out (going to sleep), bad things might happen while you do so (walking around like a zombie, for example).
Effects of smoking bud would be speed reduced not gained. Also would need to drink more liquid because of the drys hahahaha
No drugs! We don't need kids being high.
Opium to craft morphine and heroin. Weed to craft hash and hemp rope Rye to craft LSD after it gets inoculated with ergot Coca leaves to cocaine for increased speed and accuracy. An addiction system would be cool. Oh and mushrooms, lots of mushrooms...
