What does procedural virtual texturing do?

If i check this option i f2 settings i get around 10-15 maybe more fps boost..

And there is a bug in server list menu when i click on scrolling pad it goes down and i cant keep it up :/

Edit: Okay it seems that procedural virtual texturing mean that better textures are loaded whed i get near them?!

ohh, so its better to turn it on? why do i get a better fps?

Because Rust generates the texture once on the CPU and then fires it off to the GPU to hold onto in VRAM instead of loading multiple textures and blending them on the fly constantly. This means it uses more RAM, however. This is discussed in the most recent devblog.

You really should read playrust.com and go through the old posts. You'll see how Rust has been improving steadily, even if the gameplay doesn't seem to have been progressing smoothly.

I have read all the devblogs and alot of threads but i cant remember i all :( and i cant search the forum i end up getting all xxxxx.xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx, i heard i have to log in to use search but i cant find the log in button anywhere :/

So in short, do i turn it on or off? when off i get 50+- fps when on i get 65+-

Try using the search at the middle top of the page. Note: The default search that comes up is worthless, click the Single-topic Search tab on the left, and there's your proper forum search.

You do whatever you want with it; it's supposed to increase performance while looking great. And, since you get about a 25%-30% boost in fps, you might as well leave it on.
