Get rid of the foundations, use instead load pilars.

Foundations are a horrible base for the building, using load pilars you can suport a freed building system. You need two non load pilars in order to build a wall, when you build a pilar it stock earth-fixed (till rust eat it). You can build only on top of roofs with load pilars below. The developers got the rest of the system already born (I dont know why we havent seen any roofs or stairs...) with this change ant that great grided walls I think the only left is the textures of the different building materials.
Btw I love the idea of building with a mix of components, every material that you are able to harvest in the runs should be useful in the building system.
PD: The way that walls are right now is chaotic, controled base terrain is in need in building.
in the dev blog they stated that they're looking at different systems before they start any implementation. Personally it would be nice to have multiple different options for foundations, each with their own advantages and disadvantages depending on the substrate. In a sandy or snowy biome, using a flat boxed out foundation would cause everything to go out of level - therefore you wouldn't be able to build up too high, etc etc. (not that I'm an expert in structural integrity, being an electrician I like to think I know a bit about some things :eng101: )
I like the Foundations in the legacy.
they re Simple and do they re Job.
I'll take simple foundation system over anything more complicated. You could already create amazing things with the old system... anything too much more complex and suddenly I have to have an engineering degree to build a simple temp structure.
