Don't expect any real update at least until the new item system is done.Then they have to redo every item in game and import it.Including the new ones(bear traps,berries,bones etc)
So this will take time.How much time it's a matter of the dev team

Figuring at least no new updates in the next 2-3 weeks. Waiting for h1z1 to come out and try that.. Love Rust though, but it's time for a break now until it get's updated. :)

Since I bought rust in December the only update there was that I really cared about was adding locks. Ironically back then I read they went away from Day-Z because of the lack of updates.
No update today is also an update, then I refer to this:

Another apology devblog telling us to keep waiting seems more likely.

Garry will give us our weekly "pat on the head" most likely within the next 12 hours. I'm interested to know if the next update will be coming faster then expected and how the "bold decision" turned out.
I would expect an update in a few weeks. Id between 2-4. Some nice things are poping up on trello and it looks like they are progressing quite faster now :). Minh_le is a great addiction to their team.
