so some gaming monitors have build in software to do a overlay for a cross hair on your screen.
Is this consider cheating similar to like macros on a keyboard.
i havent not used any on rust at all cause i do not want to get banned but i have used on other single player games that don't have cross hairs
here is a snip of a software you can also use

No idea, saw it before tho
On the "is something bannable" note, is it a problem to use the F1 commands like grass.on false? I'd assume not since it's something within the game but I thought i'd ask before I try it and this thread seemed like a convenient place to do so.
If this hooks into the executable, it'll be detected by VAC. Otherwise it's just as illegal as drawing a dot on your screen.

Definitely not. The console is there, if they didn't want us using it, they would disable it. Plus, everyone does it.

Well, not necessarily. You can use the Teamspeak overlay safely - as long as Garry doesn't manually add it. A stock VAC will NOT ban you for using Teamspeak/Winamp/... overlays.
But yea, I guess this is considered cheating as it gives an advantage.

it's cheating but it's not really possible to ban it
Punkbuster considers overlays, except a select few (mumble, steam, etc.) to be bannable offenses. Who knows what VAC thinks, but I wouldn't risk it. Find some translucent stickers or something if you have a hard time eyeballin' it.
Scotch tape and sharpie....don't want to do that then risk being banned.
Or just make a laser attachment.

laser is probably the least accurate attachment in this game.

And I'd guess people are using the crosshair for the bow. It's one of.. two? weapons you can't sight.
what is the other weapon?
unless you have rock, stone hatchet, hatchet and pick axe in mind.....

If you google it, you will find it linked on alot of known cheat sites .. so I would say it's considered a cheat!
I rather learn to find the moddle point on your scrren instead!!!!
Better safe than sorry.
as long as it doesn't attach it's self to the game I think you'll be fine
Hand cannon can't be sighted, I don't think. At least I couldn't figure out a way to sight it.
I definitely don't want anyone who finds use for a crosshair overlay to back me up in a post-apocalypse/survival scenario.
Excuse me while I find survivors...
