So I was playing and chatting with a friend when he said he died because it was dark. However for me it was daylight.
The server has a time mod so I checked the time.. see pic.

Yes, this has been happening for several months now, and has been widely reported. Day / night is not synced for all players on the same server.
Ah, heard about that months ago, assumed it had been fixed. Oh well, ignore me and my post then.
