for instance, i find a metal building part, but i need the low quality metal to make something else. or maybe i find a few guns that i dont need anymore but need the metal to build up a base.
I support this idea. Ie. throw 5 crap pistols you stole on a raid into the furnace with a fuel source.

yeah, that sounds like a good way to do it. also gives another use for the furnace and maybe make it so that only low grade fuel can melt it down so its not only used to make furnaces.
Basically scrapping? Sure. That's a good idea. Scrapping things for half of what it took to make them or something along those lines, eh?
This would make the game 100 times better. That way instead of just ditching most of what I raid I can have a use for it!
