• Garry - I Found a Total Fix for the FPS Lag

People have been having the same problem with Kerbal Space Program, which runs on Unity, for a long time. Someone realized that if you copy the Mono folder from the Launcher directory to the game's data directory and overwrote the mono there (the one in launcher is a later Unity mono version), the fps lag went away. I did the same thing here. I copied the Mono folder from Kerbal's launcher directory to the Rust game directory, and the FPS lag went away completely. The game runs completely perfect. Uploaded the mono folder here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/4lpo4j Find the mono directory in your rust folder and replace it.
I am going to try this..lol I hope I don't get banned. EDIT: I tried it and didn't really notice any improvements.
I wouldn't imagine that this would ban you, but honestly I cannot say for sure. If you DID get VAC banned you could likely win an appeal if it was for this.
I'll have to try this. Very interested to see results.
I just tried this and it seem to be running smoother. I don't have time to get numbers right now but after work I my if some one else doesn't.
Can you explain me what it does to my game?
I would be careful downloading those files!!! If you want the latest files, just download unity 3d/player/launcher ( whatever it's called ), and copy from there! Then you'll know their'e clean files!!
I would love to try it, but don't to take the risk of getting the "Hammer of VAC" wrecking in my door. :v:
Going to try this when I get home probably won't get VAC banned.
No noticeable improvement whatsoever.
This is just me thinking out loud. But chancing folders in the game directories of a VAC-shielded game might, just might, not be the best of ideas. Yes, VAC banning is based on confirmed cheats and all that, but if your kerbal DLLs or whatnots are closer to the cheaters versions than Rusts stock ones.... Weeeeelll...... Try: grass.on false gfx.ssaa false
Did not get VAC Banned but also no improvement :(
Did not get VAC Banned but also no improvement :(
VAC bans are not instant, you may not know for a day or a week or months if you'll get banned or not.
what does gfx.ssaa do? cant try right now
Turns of SSAA I'm guessing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supersampling
On Kerbal, I think only high end systems like mine had this problem (best CPU, best video card). It becomes a limit to the FPS in the form of a continuous video stutter. The latest Mono fixed that for those people like me. As far as I can tell, it did the same for me in Rust. Since some folks were worried about me providing the files (no worries, I don't know a lick about programming and stuff), the official stuff is here: http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html. But I don't recommend that route unless you know what you're doing, since you have to find the right subfolder, and the mono.dll is not there.
VAC bans are not instant, you may not know for a day or a week or months if you'll get banned or not.
Yeah, thats why 3 hour old accounts have been vac banned...

Hey man, I have a bridge for sale, you buying?
I don't wanna derail anymore but, you should have actually tried reading it before you make assumptions. It's quite genius if you think about it. They already know you are hacking/cheating and study you for 2-4 weeks so they know exactly what to do to counter similar or the same hack later on.

I have 2 friends that got banned after playing for 3-4 hours. First time playing rust, so its obviously misinformation.

Vac bans come in waves, and VAC has an FAQ that answers that they watch you for periods of time and issue the ban. Get over it and stop being a brat about it. Pedantic little kids.
If you say so, explain why they were banned 3 hours after buying the game dummy.
Care to provide some proof of this? Or are you just going to post the same argument over and over?
If you say so, explain why they were banned 3 hours after buying the game dummy.
Kid logs in on scheduled day of bans. Uses cheat that has been known and studied for the upcoming wave of bans. Account gets flagged. Account is banned later that day.
Kid logs in on scheduled day of bans. Uses cheat that has been known and studied for the upcoming wave of bans. Account gets flagged. Account is banned later that day.
That would make sense to me.
Back on topic... anyone get noticable improvement by trying this?
So, someone knows if i can get banned by using this ?
I did this, didn't notice any changes and reverted back. Will I get VAC-Banned for this? I'm really really worried because my parents might get mad for me purchasing the same game twice.
