Are you having trouble connecting to a Rust Experimental server or are you constantly getting disconnected just minutes, or even seconds after you join? What about getting stuck on the receiving data screen? If so, then I may be able to help you.
I am not sure if this will fix everyone's problem with their connection issues, but I know that it COMPLETELY fixed mine.
Getting timed out error or disconnecting minutes or even seconds after you join / Getting stuck at the receiving data screen:
Go to your router's settings and disable the router's firewall. So many people disable the computer's firewall and still have trouble, including me, but I didn't fix my issue until I disabled the router's firewall. You may also want to disable WAN Ping Blocking if your router has this setting. If this is enabled, it rejects pings from third parties.
Disconnected due to EAC issues:
If you get a notice saying that you have been disconnected due to EAC being un-connected, simply run Rust through Steam. If you are running from a shortcut on your desktop, EAC will not initialize and it will boot you and advise that EAC is un-connected. EAC only initializes when you launch the game directly from Steam.
As I stated, these may not fix everyone's connection issues, but they fixed mine 100%. I have not had ANY issues for 3 weeks since I took these steps.
Hope this helps!
