Once I loaded in to the server I got terrible fps(probably less than 10) and I could barely move around. I set my settings to low and nothing really changed. I have an brand new Alienware 15 with a 6th gen Intel I7 quad core processor 2.6ghz, 12gb of ram, and a gtx 970m with 3gbs of VRAM. I know that it's a mobile gpu but I was wondering if there's anything I can do to maybe boost my fps so the game is playable. I checked and the game is using the nvidia graphics card.
Thanks for your hep
Press F1 and look under system information, odds are by default rust is using a weaker integrated graphics chip instead of your 970m. If that's the case then go into thr Nvidia control panel and create a new profile for rust and make sure it is using the 970m.
If it works please get back to us (I am kind of curious about how much fps you will get)
Oh shit, I didn't see the thing at the bottom. Well, make sure your drivers are updated and make it so it is performance opposed to quality. Also, what graphic settings are you using? If your graphics settings are pretty high then that would probably be the reason why you are getting poor frame rate.
Also, for my computer I take a huge hit in frame rate when terrain quality is up, go under options and then performance and make sure the terrain textures slide bar is at 0.
The Rust that was using the nvidia gpu was the wrong one lol but after adding a custom rust to the nvidia control panel I can run the game smoothly on the fantastic graphics setting. Thanks for your help
