• [Suggestion] Alarm Trap

This idea has most probably been suggested before, nevertheless I'd like to argue why such an item would be a perfect addition to Rust and its PvP and raiding gameplay. At the moment it is relatively easy to raid a house while its owner is offline. Simply hacking through walls can be done stealthily at night (ingame) and thus often does not pose any threat to the raider. This is a boring gameplay mechanic, but the whole raiding experience can be improved with the addition of an alarm trap device. - This is a very small item that you can place once on any foundation or floor tile, similar to a lock on a door. - It can be turned on and turned off by cupboard-authorized players. Its state should be visible (red and green) like on the code lock. - If it is turned on and anybody steps on the tile, the alarm trap activates with a beep. After the beep the intruder as 20 seconds to either destroy the trap or, in case it is the homeowner, turn it off. - If neither happens, the alarm trap emits a loud alarm sound for 60 seconds, then self-destructs. This alarm sound can be heard up to 1000 meters away and gets weaker over distance. Since it is a sound nearby players can guess the direction and distance, similar to the Airdrop plane. - This alarm trap should only be destructible by (one) C4 if it is placed very near. This simple game mechanic would add another "event" (like the Airdrop) to Rust: Hearing it usually means that somebody has broken into a nearby house. Anybody who hears the sound can then decide to ignore it or decide to try and get a piece of the cake. If the alarm trap is expensive to build (e.g., 300+ metal etc.) it also suggests that there is probably fat loot in the house. - For a raider this means that raiding can become a very suspenseful and possibly risky business because he has to be on the lookout. This is especially dangerous for a single raider who still tries to hack down the remaining (inside) walls. - For the homeowner it can be a way to deter a raider or to make a raid more costly. However, the high item cost poses a cost-benefit problem. - This game mechanism also serves as a (lategame) resource sink. The trap costs lots of metal to build and the C4 costs lots of gunpowder to build. Such an item probably opens up a lot of other possibilities, but mainly it would increase larger-scale PvP interaction which at the moment is mostly provided by scarce Airdrops. On a side note, perhaps all alarm sounds should be possible to be turned off in the F2 audio menu for those players who are annoyed by the sound or who do not want to take part such events. Any suggestions are welcome.
I would think of Metro with the cans hanging from rope and they make a loud rattle sound if someone isn't careful!
Great idea, would love to see it. Only thing I would change is the 20 seconds to shut it off, or make it so only someone who is cupboard authed can shut it off in those 20 seconds. Too easy otherwise for an intruder to deal with.
i know this is just my sense of comedy but i want the alarm to be loud. and i want it to go on forever. even for days. so my neighbor knows i have been robbed. And i have logged and not coming back.
