So I was playing Rust with a friend, and I kept dying randomly. Whenever I look in the console, I would see "You suicided!" even though I never typed in suicide. That stopped after a bit, and then my friend had to go, and a while after he left, I saw this outside my house. If you don't see it, there's what looks like a guy on the mountain. For some reason, he appeared all black. Later on, he appeared outside my house again and I shot at him. He wasn't damaged, but instead, he just disappeared. I didn't get a screenshot of that moment. Then not too long afterwards, he appeared inside my house and I took a screenshot before shooting him. He disappeared again and I didn't see him since. When I looked at the screenshot though, it looked like this. You can still kind of see the guy's silhouette in front of the wall. Seriously guys, I have absolutely no idea what's going on with this guy. This isn't really a hacker report, more of a "What the hell's going on?" kind of thing. Why did my image distort when I took it? Anyway, if you can reply, it would be much appreciated. Thanks..
Nice Photoshop skills!
Funny how your chat is blurred and not being affected by the Photoshop filters but the Steam Overlay is. If it really did that your GPU would be in imminent danger of dying.
This isn't minecraft. Don't try to create Herobrine lmao
You must be a real joy at home.
This is the third "Herobrine" hoaxthread. It's been done and done better than this. Especially when it comes to making filters properly apply to the scene to help it at least appear more believable. If you're going to step up to the plate, you have to expect fastballs to come at you.
I bet you that chat is all like "Are you on the mountain? I'm on my way to the photo location" amongst other things [editline]8th August 2014[/editline]
Funny how your chat is blurred and not being affected by the Photoshop filters
I dunno what filters he used, but it's possible he just added colorful noise and increased the contrast, which'd probably result in that text. If you look closely, there's random colors, like from adding color-saturated noise, that aren't in the first pic.
The second one looks like a Find Edges and a coloured noise filter in some combination, or screwing with Difference'd effects.
Was going to, and still am I guess, say how it was probably someone using a mass suicide "hack". Then I see its a low effort attempt at a Rust scary story. Not enough photorealistic skeletons reciting your family history while your old pets dance the hula. I say this in vain as the OP probably died in real life after posting this due to the demons that possessed his/her computer.
Okay, I'm back from my sleep. Let me clear a few things up. Yes, this seems like just another one of those creepy Rust stories that is inspired by Herobrine, but I have to say, it is not. What I took was what I saw ingame, except for the chat, which I blurred for privacy reasons. This is not done in Photoshop. I barely even know how to use that. No one in chat mentioned anything to do with this guy either. And he didn't use mass suicide, as no one else died when I died. Something like this is something I would not believe myself if I saw someone else posting it, I know. But I saw it ingame with my own eyes.
Just stop.
Just stop.
If this isn't going to be believed, I might as well stop. Just know that this is real, but yeah, I don't blame you if you don't believe me. Wouldn't believe it myself if someone else did this.
This is not done in Photoshop. I barely even know how to use that.
yeah, maybe don't link your deviantart account with photoshopped images when you are denying altering the images. personally i like a little "beardybrine" story, but you gotta be realistic about how you "think it happened". put a smiley face or something on it when you comment about how "it really happened" and people (mostly) will get that you are playing a part, and not a total twit;) anyway, not bad. closeup is too detailed, better to use more shadow, but i like the "corruption" effects on the image for the close proximity, its a nice touch:)
I know this is fake, but on the other hand it realy be a cool thing to be real. Just an NPC in game that suddenly shows up even in you're base. The fear factor in this game is what it makes so good, like getting an airdrop naked and being followed by 3 Kevlar dudes. That gets the hart pumping. I realy would like something like this, imagine you're just minding you're own biss crafting some shit in you're base suddenly you're screen flickers a bit you turn around and you see this ghostly figure next to you. It would scare the shit out of you. I'd like that. And what it does doesn't matter kill you or leave that's up to the game designers. And maybe even as in the first picture you can sometimes spot him all acros the map!?
actually this kind of thing could be a cool enemy unit. some kind of "irradiated" humanoid that is hostile, and affects your visuals as it gets closer. maybe ignores walls etc, or simply decays anything it goes near, so your walls slowly dissolve in front of your eyes. would scare the hell out of you when you are trying to survive from hunger, thirst and kevs:) also could have logic to attack anything near it, with priority to players...you hear bears dying outside, but no gunshots...and then your wall falls apart and your screen gets all screwed up before the shadow man eats your face;)

That decay bit... It could be pushed even further to symbolize the 4 horseman. War=bot, Pestilence=Mutated veggies, Famine= (variation of above), Death=??fellow players?
Funny how your chat is blurred and not being affected by the Photoshop filters but the Steam Overlay is. If it really did that your GPU would be in imminent danger of dying.
The chat is 2D. For it to be manipulated by 3D filters wouldn't make any sense.
The chat is 2D. And everything but that box in the second one. Because according to your logic, the Steam Overlay window in the bottom right shouldn't be affected. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.

What's more likely to happen is that he took the screen shot, and then went to one of the billion website that allow you to blur things.

I doubt if your graphics card started bugging out and dying that your chat would be omitted because it's not 3d, it's still within engine.
