Hello people im going to talk about the Legacy Rust. Back when i was new to rust you there was a point at the night where you can`t see anything 5m in front of you even using a Torch. Some weeks later it got removed. That "Super Darkness" was horrible for some of us, but i always liked that. It was Realistic I Would like to see that in the Experimental again. People have to be aware of the Night. Reply to it
i like the feel of it, but its not practical to play with total darkness. if it came back, people would simply crank their gamma again and ignore the torch.

I love pitchblack nights. And I was so happy when they made the nights darker in the experimental branch lately. I think the nights are really realistic now. And I was like "oh look a cabin, I will totally check this out" and when I didn't find the door I ignited the torch just to realize that I'm standing in front of a massive rock but not a cabin :D
i like the feel of it, but its not practical to play with total darkness. if it came back, people would simply crank their gamma again and ignore the torch.
Who are these people? Cranking up the gamma and therefore raping the visuals of a beautiful game? Geez, I hate these "legal" cheats. I there even a way to detect it? Eventually the server should be aware of when a player could have had the possibility to see another player and when not?

The devs were looking at adapting a technique used in the Crysis series, and that's to mask patches of the frame that should be pure darkness with a pixel fog. When the game and gamma are at normal, appropriate levels, the darkness looks, well, dark. But if you try and be a gamma cheater and crank it up, you get to look at blobs of nothing pixels where the darkness is, obscuring your vision anyway. As far as I know, this never actually was implemented in legacy, because it's not as easy to do as it sounds, but hopefully with experimental's cleaner codebase it'll be more doable.
