• Major lag rubberbanding issues -- died multiple times due to this
    64 replies, posted
Hello everyone. As you're aware by the title this is to explain that I am having some serious lag rubberbanding issues that are causing me to die several times when I'm ages away from a zombie or a bear, etc. To explain further: While standing in one place, it appears that I am in said place on my screen, but the location of my body is shown to other players, standing still not doing anything. This has happened to me several times on several servers. I will be actively running towards my encampment, etc and all of a sudden I'm getting killed by a zombie, or a bear, or even a player. It would appear that on my screen, I'm actually close to my camp, but the server defines my location very far away or at best, standing still in one spot for an easy kill. I've lost numerous hours of work, items, etc due to this issue. This happens to me every few minutes on multiple servers... even ones located close to me with 25 latency times, etc. This appears to me, as a bug that is an location translation between server and client. My question is: Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm not trying to spam a topic that has been addressed if it has, as I've searched for something similar and have not seen any topics regarding this. I can also assure you it is not my net, as I'm running the "comcast blast" package which mine runs approximately (~) 50M downstream and ~10 upstream sometimes bouncing to 12M. Although to many this is not a powerful enough connection in your eyes, I can assure you it's perfectly fine. I do not have this issue in ANY other game I play, ranging from CSGO to RIFT. Seeing as it has only happened in Rust, I'm becoming slightly frustrated. I will be taking some video of the occurrence just to provide a bit more insight as to what is happening. Will definitely update this thread in order for the Devs as well as community members to possibly help address this issue not only for myself, but for anyone else who is experiencing it. Currently it happens approximately every 5-10 minutes on every server I play on. I'm located in Washington state (west coast) so I tend to play on Seattle servers with lower ping (~20) and still experience it. I'm not sure rather this is a known glitch, or if it's just me. I checked out the Rust wiki and saw that the servers run on port 28015, so with that I decided to open up my TCP ports of 28000-28999 and UDP 15000-28999 just to ensure I'd cover a good range of ports. I've not seen any topics on Port Forwarding set up for Rust as of yet. Any feedback that is constructive in attempting to reveal and alleviate this issue would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Yes, I have been on both ends of the issue your stating here. I am also from WA.
Yes, I have been on both ends of the issue your stating here. I am also from WA.
So more than likely you're using Comcast as well, am I correct on this assumption? If so, I'm considering contacting Comcast regarding this. They may see this as a "p2p" program and could be throttling our connections to the game servers just on the sheer fact they regard it as peer 2 peer. That may actually resolve half of our issue. [editline]18th December 2013[/editline] Figured out what the issue is. Synchronization issues. In essence we're desynced from the server.... Client to server translation problems. Hopefully this is fixed with the new update coming tonight.
Bump. Desync still happening. Game isn't much fun if you can't gather things the way you're supposed to and desync every 10 minutes.
You arent the only one having the issue.
You arent the only one having the issue.
I realize this. Did you bother to read the entirety of my post or did you just lazily post without reading the body of text?
My question is: Is anyone else experiencing this?
I read that part, but thanks for being a snarky faggot. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Swebonny)) (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Swebonny))
I read that part, but thanks for being a snarky faggot.
No need to be snide for me asking if you bothered to read the post. As for the faggot part... okay... if I'm a bundle of sticks then that's fine with me. Thanks for your well informative posts and total disregard with posting without properly insinuating that you too are still experiencing the issue. Instead you decided to become Mr. Forumtroll and start dropping out insults like a child does when they're called out on their crap. [editline]19th December 2013[/editline] Just so the devs are aware... This has become worse since the patch. It's every 1 to 3 minutes now and just progressively making it ridiculously hard to even play. I desynced while running from a zombie only to be killed. Then, same scenario again... it's happened at least 40 times already since the update. This makes the game completely unplayable, and furthermore, makes your players feel like they've wasted $20 on a release that has the potential to be super enjoyable. Hopefully you guys can find a quick / hotfix for this so those of us experiencing this can enjoy the game even in its alpha state.
I get the same issue, after 30 seconds of joining the game it becomes permanently desynced. I cannot kill monsters or players, I cannot chop wood or stone, I can run around however I end up dieing to a wolf or something on the other side of the map, I can see players moving around well at least warping around but after hitting them in the head 100 times with a rock and they being completely unaware that I even exist I've come to the conclusion that it isn't possible for me to interact with players at all. Game is completely unplayable across the board.
this prob has been around for months they dont give 2 shits you have already given them your $20. the way to get it fixed is to use it to your advantage get into a group and raid with them ur able to kill ppl while being invisible place c4 on there doors run around and scout without no chance for the others to kill you or find you.
I got the exact same problem, the first day i could play without any problems, then the next 2 days i hade this issue constantly, then it was good again for a day, then next day the same shit happend, it even happens today cannot last longer then 1 min tops before i become a ghost preventing me from interacting with stuff ingame. This need to be fixed ASAP.

You do realize the BBB is around for a reason correct? Regardless of digital service or not, it can be used and it can be reported. The fact that it's in Alpha, makes me give it a chance since it's a little hard to expect a complete working product with absolutely no flaws... but the fact of the matter is they have received the $20, and they should put that $20 along with all of ours to good use and correct / fix this issue as it's one of the most MAJOR in the game thus far. I'm not saying I'm entitled to this or entitled to that, but I think the community as a whole, are entitled to see some results with bug fixes, not necessarily what they want (meaning new guns ammo etc), but definitely some fixes for issues such as these that are MAJOR and even game breaking. If you disagree with that, I'd say you don't know what $20 can do, regardless of how small of an amount it is.
I'd like to bump this thread... I am also having these issues... also a Comcast user. What you said about P2P makes a lot of sense but then how would we remedy that? I play with 2 r/l friends and they can both play with no issues. This issue used to happen only occasionally but since the patch it is happening every time I get online after about 2-3 minutes of playing. Server rendering and device lost or something like that when I hit F1. Not sure if Comcast is the issue or if that's just a coinsedence. If I had any option other than Comcast in my area that's what I would go with. Unfortunately I don't.
Thank you swebony for the ban on that guy, anyways... Me and my whole team have been getting constantly rubberbanded with slight clean times. I'm sure Helk is already on top of this current situation and is going for a fix. I really enjoy Helk's interactive nature here on the forums with positive updates. Idk if you hear this enough Helk / rest of facepunch crew. GOOD JOB!!!!!! ps. This was not sarcasm in anyway for any future discrepancy lol.
It does only affect a very small portion of the userbase and has something to do with the internal timings being off causing the server to ignore packets one guy who had it was running some software that he claimed made his computer run better by altering his clock rates, if you have anything like that installed I suggest disabling it We are aware of the problem and it is a priority to fix it!

I'm also using DMZ on my router, so I'm from behind the firewall. The only program I'm running is Fraps other than steam and my AMD Catalyst software. Pretty much: I'm using absolutely nothing to change the internal clock rates. Hope this helps you. Cheers for the response. EDIT: I'm running my Razer Synapse 2.0. That's not something I can exactly just disable though.
I'm that guy, the programm is EPU-6 Engine, I can control the power usage trought it, when I set to medium power the ghost bug disappear.
I'm that guy, the programm is EPU-6 Engine, I can control the power usage trought it, when I set to medium power the ghost bug disappear.
Interesting, I also have this program and am experience this problem however setting it to medium and or turning it off completely doesn't seem to fix anything for me.
Interesting, I also have this program and am experience this problem however setting it to medium and or turning it off completely doesn't seem to fix anything for me.
The comments made above by Helk reflect that it is indeed a confirmed bug that affects a certain percentage of the userbase and is not reflectant upon affecting everyone. The only way for them to fix this is to update the coding on the server-side software along with the game engine to interpolate movement and update locations every so often by the server so that packets aren't filtered out / dropped, and so that players are actively shown in their location as stated by the server. Now I don't know shit about code, other than very basic stuff.... so I wont pretend to act like I know everything, but the fact of the matter is that it's gonna have to be coded and worked out over time. Hopefully this is more than just a high priority, hopefully it's a top priority. But none the less, this will take an extensive amount of coding to achieve, but I have faith in the devs to resolve the issue once and for all. Since they aren't WarZ / DayZ fucktards, it should be relatively quick for them to achieve... especially because they're light years beyond what DayZ / WarZ ever was / is... IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

And I haven't even gotten to shoot a gun yet due to this issue. It also makes me more of a liability than an asset to my friends when we're playing lol..

The only way I can play currently without experiencing this issue is through the Leaked server released on the forums. I'm doing it and people are able to join me and play on my server just fine. But when I'm on my server clearly I don't experience it. It's definitely got to be a comcast thing. Although some people are referring to it as being a hardware problem possibly. I somehow doubt that, but we'll see. I'll try swapping video cards out and see how that fairs. However, I doubt it'll do anything at all.
i Have the same, and i can't play. Appoint this problem a big priority please. Please fix this as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.

Thank you in advance.
I encourage you to read their Trello page, as it ultimately states that it is a high priority. I'm pretty sure by high, it's a top. We'll see with time though. [editline]20th December 2013[/editline] Quick bump/update: Swapped video cards since it became more and more prevalent amongst ATI/AMD users. Confirmed that it's still happening even on an Nvidia card. Chances are, it's probably hardware. However, I still believe it's more software oriented than hardware. This really sucks. Just want to play without this desyncing shit every 5 minutes.
I think it's people with an asus motherboard possibly. Anyone else with this issue have one?
motherboard ASUS P8 Z77 - VLK CP - Core I7 @4400 AMD ATI Radeon 6850 HD 16 gb win 7 64 I have this GHOST MODE when press "V" for voice chat. Else i can play normally VOTE FOR https://trello.com/c/yZ4jh2Gl/216-some-users-ghosting
Its probably have something to do with asus motherboards and amd catalyst. Because it seems we are all using the same thing.
Its probably have something to do with asus motherboards and amd catalyst. Because it seems we are all using the same thing.
ASUS M3A78-EMH HDMI ATI Radeon HD 6870 You would be correct in saying it's an ASUS problem considering we're all on ASUS boards and that's becoming trending almost. I'd still like to believe it's comcast so I can bitch them out about more crap since they've already got my net all fucked up. None the less... I can deal with it being a problem via asus boards. That would just mean they need to optimize some hardware coding and add in support for ASUS boards. That would be nice. Doesn't mean it'll happen right away, but it would surely be a great thing.
I'm using a ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 670.
I'm using a ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 670.
I think we've found our issue. ASUS boards. My friend has an MSI and isn't experiencing this.
Although I do not have a ASUS board, I experience this issue ONLY on certain servers when I use voice chat. (Only does it on US Central 4 (LARGE) and #RustLyfe) Now I think it might be related to packet loss due to what helk said and personal experience, I do experience packet loss on my network if my Ethernet cable is not angled a certain way from the router to my PC. Now this leads me to think that when I use voice chat I'm unable to send the packets which causes me to desync, will test again right now since I am having no packet loss at the moment. Edit: Still desyncs when I use voice chat, all hope is lost ;(
