lol run it in windowed and match up all your resolutions (desktop/game/app). I use OBS for both streaming and recording. It did throw me for a couple hours the first night I tried streaming Rust (also my first time using OBS).
I am using OBS to stream and Dxtory to record...both work.
I also use OBS and it works a-okay! no problem at all! But I had to select "window" recording; game recording doesn't work for me; but window recording works without any issues, even in full screen mode!

Only 'Monitor Capture' works for me in OBS, but I don't want that. Why is it that I can't capture my Rust game when selecting the "Select Application" mode. All other games work except Rust (experimental).
If you want full screen like recording or playing, just add -popupwindow to the launch options.
1. Right click Rust in your library and choose 'Properties' 2. On the General tab at the bottom click 'Set Launch Options' 3. In the box, enter -popupwindow (exactly like that) 4. Close
Now launch Rust normally and enjoy the borderless window. This also works for OBS and window recording. OBS will now record what appears to be a full screen window.
With OBS, be sure to tick the anti-cheat compatibility -checkbox in Game Capture options. This will allow recording in full-screen as well.
I am using OBS to stream and Dxtory to record...both work.
I can't record with Dxtory for some reason... I doesn't hook up. Maybe because Rust runs with unity web player but honestly I have no clue. Any other game works perfectly fine despite this one. Could need some advice. Can you please tell me if you did something special to make it work? Cheers. EDIT: Apparently EAC prevents Dxtory from picking up the game. How do I get to this conclusion? - The only possible way to make Dxtory actually detect the game is by launching the RustClient.exe from the main folder. However, in this case I always get kicked out of the game with the following message: "EAC unconnected". Therefore, I guess that RustClient.exe only launches the game but not EAC & Dxtory works fine. In any other case, it doesn't work at all. Since according to the EAC's official website the latest Dxtory verion (2.0.129) should be supported, I am wondering what actually causes this problem?!
I've used Fraps to record Rust play without any issue.
Since that post DXtory has stopped working. XSPLIT and OBS are working however.
Since that post DXtory has stopped working. XSPLIT and OBS are working however.
Thanks for the reply buddy. Like I've said. I am pretty sure it has something to do with EAC preventing Dxtory to hook because whenever I launch Rust via RustClient.exe, it works. And I have looked it up. RustClient.exe launches the game without EAC. Regarding this matter and all the evidence that I have collected so far, I created a bug report on: http://support.facepunchstudios.com/feedback/view/4807-eac-blocks-dxtory In addition I wrote an email to EAC. Good night!
Good luck with that. Yeah. Easy-Anti-Cheat is the biggest Mistake in Mankind... ever since it made WotR impossible to record with Action! i hate it >.> It use to block every harmless application it can find... Action!, MSI Afterburner... etc etc. (User was permabanned for this post ("dumb gimmick" - postal))

Equally weird that you're moaning about things it used to do, it works with most recording software these days.
Necro, EAC works great for me, i still can record with shadowplay/OBS. Put the Game in Borderless Windowmode and you are set.
