Exterior walls stronger - what is an exterior wall - directional placement or?

I wanted to confirm if this is the placement of the wall OR that rust knows I have an inner and outer wall (two walls).

if it is placement - can you easily tell what direction is outside? metal is obvious but stone - not sure.

They changed armored so there are metal lines on the inner face, I know that from rustafied.

I'm assuming the smooth face of wood is the inner and stone seems to have a smoother face - I'm guessing this is the inner also. Metal is not so obvious to me.

I would be nice to have some proper confirmation.
