They're now catering to the retarded half of their community, so now everyone that isn't a half-wit is punished because they didn't notice that they unlocked their door. The new system is SIGNIFICANTLY slower than the other one, but it's retard friendly, I see no reason to cater to people too dumb to use the system in place, when it's superior.
Honestly, it is pretty damn annoying. like i really hate it, but i'll get used to it, after doing it lots of times, and it'll be instant. But i really did love how it was the old way, oh well.
When I first saw this thread in the read page I thought it was some scientific breakthrough in application of the AIDS virus in home security, but this is okay too.
Wait, you can lock your door with AIDS am I missing something?
It is a pain.
It's so bad and annoying. I even told friend that doesn't play about the noobs leaving keypads unlocked and said "its would be their own fault". The light is pretty noticable and it even beeps if you accidently unlocked it. Other friend who casually plays feels the same about this mechanic. Its also flawed because my friend said when he went to enter codes to my house it unlocked them so isnt that defeating the whole purpose?
Next months patch: Auto closing doors, but no fix for things that actually hurt noobs, like unclear wall/door placement(i see someone asking this so many times a day), furnaces lootable/sleeping players through walls, or heli ganking bow+cloth gear noobs(seen a lot of clearly new people die to heli and then complain)
shouldt it be possible to bring the best of both worlds? If the door has no code set, or if you have not entered the code, clicking it will default to enter a code. If you allready have a code entered, it will default to open/close the door ?
Agreed, they should have kept the old system. The new one is terrible, annoying and more time consuming.
so only people with aids can open doors? do we catch aids from unprotected sex with the rad pigs?
It's funny, I was hunting these bolty fucks last night(got them too) and be for that I ran into this poor fucker having trouble placing the door because of the awkwardness of this new system, he placed everything correctly but couldn't figure out how to use the action wheel to lock the door again I simply open the door killed him took everything change the door codes and got a new base.
if anything this system hurts knobs more than it does anything else

The old system sucked too, the new one is just poorly implemented.
When you first put a lock on the door, it should default to entering a code, that's why you put it there.
The lock menu also needs to be tweaked too.

Not a bad idea, they should also change the "unlock with code" to simply "input code" or something along those lines, so you don't have to go through the fuckery of having to lock it after putting the code in. With my suggestion and your suggestion combined it would be far more noob friendly then both the current and the old systems.
It's not that hard to look back and make sure your lock is red...
Its just a dumb system, I have no clue why they changed it. I don't like it either obviously.
There are so many things in this game that drive new players away. I've brought friends into the game that just walked away because of what we think is simple shit, but to someone new (who doesn't think like Rust) is confusing.
The entire door/wall placement crap, I had a very good friend who quit the game because he built his keep, took me to see it, and I had to tell him he had literally built every wall inside out. He quit and now every time I bring the game up to others, he instantly says, "Bullshit game, don't buy it."
He wasn't bullshit because there was an inside and outside, he was bullshit because he spent days building the keep and NEVER did the game indicate in anyway he was building it inside out.

Your friend is a moron. Building your first base incorrectly is not a reason to leave the game, especially when you build a new base every week or two.
He could have spent all of 10mins on youtube watching a build video and figured out 90% of the nuances to this game, or you could have told him.
How is the game supposed to know you're building backwards anyways? It has no idea what your goal is.

FunYun, I won't call you a moron. I like to think I am above that.
But its not my buddy's responsibility to go searching the web to learn how to play a game. It would be very easy for FacePunch to indicate inside and outside when placing the item.
How about you help come up with a better game from a player's point of view, rather than insulting people?
Your friend shouldn't buy Early Access titles if he's not ready for Early Access titles.
You're right in that there are things that are not explained well at the moment, but... welcome to Early Access. That he's blaming the game, with "bullshit game", tells me he thought he was buying an almost-finished game. And, lmao, he's so very wrong.

Well, clearly, I don't agree its a bullshit game. I love the game.
But I also don't agree with the excuse its an early access game. It is a finished game they are charging for, but slap that crap on it so they don't have to explain their broken shit or have to prioritize it.

Lol, it's definetly not a finished game. It's kinda playable yeah but not finished at all.
I wonder if in another 3 years people will still be playing an early access game....(not really a question) but I have this feeling that RUST will never be NON early access.
On the code side this coding is to prevent hackers from opening all doors in your base door / lock.
before doors = locks = unlocked using hack custom codes to force all doors to open.

hackers they were able to open all doors inside your base the dev made it so that they can't.

Yeah, by doing dmg to false code entries, what does this have to do with it?

It's not his responsibility, you're right.
However, before operating anything you don't inherently understand it's usually a good idea to read a manual.
To do it otherwise is just asking to fuck it up. It's most certainly his fault, not the game. Not every thing comes with instructions, sometimes you have look for them.
Besides, a tutorial is usually one of the last things you bother tacking onto a game before it's complete, if at all. Tutorials are for the weak anyway.
Don't think I haven't fucked myself with a bad play? Do I quit? No, cuz I'm not a pussy. I learn to stop fucking up.
Lastly, -your- moron comment and you ending with the insulting people thing? Yeah, that pretty much shows you're a hypocrite.
Your friend is a moron, btw.

The fuck?... :ohno:
You're the moron if you think rust is in anyway a finished game hahaha what the actual fuck did I just read. Rust is far, far away from being a finished game.
Massive changes, that are going to completely change the entire way this game is played are in the works right now (level/xp system) and somehow you seem to think rust is a finished game in its current state?
Do you even understand what early access is, and how it works? Or are you just another kid whinging on the forums about everything you don't like about the game. This thread was about the lock system, not you and your friends personal opinion on the game.
to play devils advocate, i presume the comment about paying for a finished game refers to the fact that presumably in the end, our purchase becomes a finished game, and that therefore there should be some higher expectations about the product.
personally i purchased rust for legacy. the reboot is an interesting if unnecessary bonus, but i have no real expectations out of the alpha stage of the game.
They could have made a lock sound or something so it's more noticeable, but oh well..

Oh come on, Rust came out in 2013 on Steam. This is a LATE Access game.

Yeah and there are less than 15 people working on it.
It was also completely redone (legacy)
