How are all of these servers constantly getting DDoSed? Is it something in the rust server code that people are exploiting or are there really that many Rust players with super connections that can take down servers at will? I saw one cheater saying "We have 90gb/s you're going to lose your server" and sure enough after he was banned the GSP reported a 100gb/s attack. Does anything ever happen to these people? Are legal actions ever taken, or at least reported to their ISP?
Seems like every time an admin bans a cheater he risks having his server DDoSed and I don't understand why it's so common in this game compared to others I've played for years. This is the 3rd server I've played on that's just gone down, this time somebody named "I'm a fing hacker" came in, killed a bunch of people, left and then 30 seconds later the server lagged out and has been down ever since.

[I]I've had the exact same thing happen[/I], I banned this guy and he Steam messaged me telling me that he'd take down the server and lo and behold he totally did for like 6 hours...
No reports or consequences for him... Reported him on Steam, had screenshots of the chat log between he and I on the STEAM CHAT and I never heard a word from them....
I don't believe it's an exploit in the game code, but maybe I'm wrong... This isn't like the uLink exploit that was all the rage around Christmas-time.

It's scary that it's so easy.
It used to be quite difficult to get your hands on a 'DDoSer' but now, it's so easy.. It's stupid.
People do anything for small money.
If you're being DoSed/DDoSed, the best thing to do is wait it out (it's the only thing you can do). The more you complain about you losing your server/internet, the more it'll encourage them to continue the attack.
When they realise you don't give a toss about it, they give up and get bored of targeting you.

What's more "fun" then blasting your enemy offline? It's sad ofcourse and i'd personally never do this bullshit but just think about it..
Throw some money at a booter and you get one.. It's to low? Buy several others..
And bam 24/7 offline if you want to.
They're originaly used for stress testing but unfortunally it's just being used to annoy people.
Just sit it out as someone else said, don't say anything. You can also change your IP if it's personal but if it's working for long? Don't think so.
I've been online gaming for 15 years. I've never played a game that was this plagued by DDOS'ing.

Garrysmod is also plagued by DDOS.
Especially bad between the communities who profit from "donations" monitsation + owners epeen makes a lot of unfriendly competition.
I used to code for a gmod server a year or so ago. We annoyed someone and it ended up with our server being ddossed daily till the owner took it down.
