a compass that points north, towards a friend of your choice, and possibly towards your base.
the extended functionality isn't a deal breaker but it would be pretty cool.
how about just a simple map that can be crafted using paper and it shows the whole map :v:

a crafted one would be cool, wood + metal frag. when you equip it, it shows "N" on your screen.
I try not to ask for "features" instead, new craftable items.
A compass is an awesome idea. I'd suggest it be a craftable item, but it would show a directional arrow on the screen just by having it in your inventory.
It might also require a rare crafting material just to make it more interesting and valuable.
a battery and a coil of wire for crafting it might make for rare materials
There isnt really any need for a compass that points north in my opinion, if i want to find north, i look at the sunrise/set and look left/right by 90 degrees...
