Group combat currently feels clunky without being able to see your friends names. Allow us to make parties that simply keep names of those in it static for the members to see.
I kinda like it how it is - makes it a bit better "Survival"-game to me..
This way you gotta know where your friends are and not just look at a marker hovering out it the distance or something.
...but we all view things differently - but that was just my opinion on it.
I do think it's really weird that people you've met a dozen times and ought to be able to recognize, there's no way of knowing who they are further than 2 feet away. That doesn't really make much sense.
Let's be honest, group combat needs to be especially tweaked. In response to Tagger, there is no real way to recognize your friends from anyone else. Every looks exactly the same, they have the same build, face, skin tone, and everything. I think a group system would be fantastic as it would allow for some form of recognition. Anything else is just silly and doesn't really add to the survival, it just makes the game clunkier and seem less finished.
a party system would be nice with people in partys name viewable at greater distance
I dont think it even really needs to be their name as such....
Even something basic, like a fluro-coloured wrist-band, or a small-ish bright-green dot above their head...
Personally i like the wrist-band idea better, means actually needing to check your targets before pulling the trigger.... little more realistic to me....
I think if any party system is added or being considered it needs to be minimal at best. In a fire fight you're not always going to be able to tell right off the back if the enemy is really just that or your buddy thats wiggled his way into your sights. Maybe something where you look at them long enough it gives a signal that its your friend. That way it keeps some representation that you can't always take in all the details in a fight but if your willing to stop (which could be fetal) and look for a moment, you can make out whats going on.
People don't want name and markers because they take away from immersive game-play... Want to know what else takes away from immersive game-play? The fact that everyone looks exactly the same. Either character customization or party system needs to be implemented. Hell, the ability to dye armour would be good enough.

This sounds good on paper, but just think about the people that whould just dye their cloths a certain clans colors just to blend into them, which is kind of a good/bad aspect. On one hand its kinda cheap to just do that so easily, but on the other its very strategic.
Character customization IS coming - it'll make it a bit easier to determine who to shoot and whos your buddy..
Many of you players, came from DayZ - what did you do in that game ?
....exactly
As far I can see this would just make a good placeholder untill character cuztomisation is in the game.
If someone looks like a friend from afar, I think its a bit realistic that he should be able to get close to you. Seeing someone isnt a known ally from afar would be sort of an unrealistic advantage.
Handsigns, colorable armors, "guild tags" etc would however be great. I can see that being a thing that would happen in reality to be able to tell friends from foes. Also, being able to steal disguises to infiltrate would be incredibly awesome.
