Poll - Are we happy with the way the Rust forum is moderated?
91 replies, posted
Some friends and me have been playing this game alot. Perhaps too much as some of us have logged around 200 hours testing this game and have tried to be active on the forums to both report bugs and general ideas. I thought that the intention of these forums were for the general population to help the developers. If this is the case, why do you ban people trying to assist you? I see too many people banned for bogus reasons by the moderator "postal". For the sake of this game, I would suggest that Facepunch employ another moderator for the Rust forums. I`m close to giving up on this game because of his moderation.
I dont think I`m the only person feeling this way. I`m creating a poll to see what the rest of the forum think about this subject. I just hope that you arent afraid of voting as I dont think he will ban everyone active in this thread.
The poll will either show that people are fed up with "postals" way of governing the Rust forum or that people like that he keep a very firm hand on the posting. Either way, it might give the owners of the forums an idea of how one of their moderators operate and hopefully deal with the situation.

I have yet never seen a ban from postal that went overline or something.
I demand an example please. Any screenshots or something. Can't judge from now on.
I got banned once, i have no idea why it just said read the rules. After the ban was lifted i looked back at my last few posts and still couldnt figure out why i was banned.
I just stopped posting, i read every now and then but im not as enthusiastic about it.
I just feel im supporting the game in alpha, and if i get banned from the forums it should be pretty cut and dry the reason why.
Unfortunately are the people with the best reasons banned already, so they cant post.
Would it be that hard to give a hint of where to post instead of issuing a 4 day ban for misplaced post? He doesnt ever bother to remove the post, just clicks ban and let the thread fill the foums anyways.
Why permaban people for trying to help with the hacker problem?
If you post about a topic that's already been covered many times before then that's equivalent to spam and it's a ban-able offence. Same goes for grieving/flaming and sometimes just plain swearing.
You are not helping by flooding the forums with useless junk that everyone has seen before.
Who cares about postal banning everyone , id rather see the game fixed

Then why not actually moderate and move the posts or delete them? Instead of just banning that person for 4 days.

People trying to help the game get banned. But hey, it doesnt seem that anything written on the forums is read by anyone else but postal anyways.
To see other bannable offenses, just read a few threads and look for the guys with red text beneath them and you see what horrible offenses they have done.

If you actually wanted to know the answer to that question, you'd have wrote postal a neutral and respectful private message asking for clarification and more detailed explanations for moderator actions, the way a mature adult gathers unknown or unclear information.

To leave an example.
But people are thick, they still don't learn.

That has been done, no reply. But I guess he`s getting alot of mails. I have also tried the same thing on the forum (as he probably read those more often) and it resulted in a ban and no explanation except for the ban.
Or they could not be lazy and actually read the sticky that says "Read before posting" which tells you where to post shit.

Stupid people trying to help the game*
Most people whine & complain rather then contributing/adressing the problems in a good way , that's why they get banned.
And garry/helk read the forums , they don't have the time to reply to everything. Look in the server browser , see the official server tab? That was an idea posted here on the forums
And then did you make a thread in the Refugee Camp asking about your ban or appealing it? (P.S. that's the only thing the RC is for; if you end up there again soon for any reason, don't use it for other things, just as a general guide to happiness)
This forum community is much larger than just Rust. Most bans come from making stupid threads that are specifically listed in the rules sticky as topics that will get you a ban. The ban is your warning to read the rules, pay attention to how the community works and what does and doesn't attract moderator attention, and think before you post. If you give the mods a lot of work to do, they'll solve the problem at its source.
A lot of newbies who aren't interested in fitting in with the community and who are only here for their own selfish interests are usually the ones showing up in the event log.

Maybe you should read the rules sticky and figure it out lol. It explains how you can see what you were banned for as well as what you did wrong. We have a chat thread set up for people to find teammates in, use it.

Don't make a mess of things for us and just assume we'll clean it all up after you.

I don't permaban people for trying to help with the hacker problem lol I permaban people that make a mess of the forums over and over again, which isn't very often since most people learn from the first ban.
i was banned for 3 days for missing a post where all hackers should be reported even in my thread i had nothing to report ...

Lol I was just waiting to see if you actually would vote on the poll :v: either way it would have been pretty funny.
Not at all, users are getting banned every second.
Threads gets closed whilst they shouldn't be.
Wait, shit. Can I change my vote to not happy? This sub forum isn't closed.
I see some threads being removed instead of closed, and a lot of people being banned. This is sending out a wrong message, as I expect I can get banned for just about anything..

Not if you read the rules :v:

Did you read the rules sticky yet? You might want to read it since you reporting hackers or not had literally nothing to do with me banning you.
I don't think he does it to be a dick. It's just this forum's strict policy. It has been this way before Rust was even a project.
This reminds me of a post in the steam forums. LOL madbros
Kuts"]Facepunch ?? naaa Nazipunch if u try to ask something at the forum sutch as, Cheaters, or the fact of the uk server is down, they will ban you, you can only speak well about the game e.t.c if u say the true Nazipunch will ban u

In no way am I happy with the mods on this forum. One of the main culprits being postal, who closes threads without anyone being able to comment on them before hand. One I posted was here http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1340073
I'm basically letting people know why the servers are being DDoS and what could be done to help stop it. But no, insta locked and ignored.

You're just being captain obvious and contributing to the huge spam of DDOS threads we've already had lol. The developers aren't idiots, give them some credit and let them work.

Lol you're the best, postal, stay classy.

One post then insta lock is pretty much being ignored and thrown aside?
One post then insta lock is pretty much being ignored and thrown aside?
Are you even reading what postal says?
One post then insta lock is pretty much being ignored and thrown aside?
He did you the courtesy of replying. Usually mods just lock threads without warning.
Yes I read it, but why insta lock it? I'd of liked some feedback and general discussion. Y'know, like you come onto a forum to do?
