• Sound issues - volume for lit torch, combat hit and barrel hits.

I've looked everywhere for the past day to see if there's an answer for this or if someone else is experiencing it, and I can't find any. If I missed it, I apologize. I've encountered an issue with my sound. When I light my torch, hit barrels or make a combat hit (i.e.; hit a player or animal with any tool or weapon (melee or ranged)) the sound increases exponentially. My volume is normally turned down to 0.02 master, 0.10 music, 0.08 game where my voice is default. Yet it doesn't seem to affect these specific sounds; the issue remains even when I turn down the volume settings to zero in game. No other sound remains but the aforementioned ones do. The only way they decrease is to turn down Rust's volume in my windows volume mixer (which, of course, turns down all the sounds in the game). I don't know if this is a bug or a fixable issue on my end, but I thought I should post about it either way. Thank you. Edit: For reference I have tried to repair the game (no issues found) and also reinstalled just to be safe.
I have the same issue, but it makes sense that environmental audio is lowered when you hit something, fire a firearm, or any other audio in close proximity. The keyword is that local audio is not heightened, but that the surrounding audio is lowered - since you cant hear what your friend is saying next to you, when you go full auto with an assault rifle.
I have the same problem, I thought it was just me because everyone I asked in game acted like I was weird or something. I feel like my ears are going to bleed after hitting barrels in a rad town for anymore than 5 seconds. Yes the surrounding audio is lowered but at the same time those two sounds are definitely too loud compared to everything else.

It's only on torch lights, barrel hits or when you hit people/animals in combat. When hitting a tree, rock, door etc with weapons/tools the sounds are the same as ever. It's only those other sounds that increase. And the weird part is the sounds seem to be completely detached from the volume controls in-game. No settings lower them from inside the game. For spec-reference I'm on windows 7 and my soundcard is a Creative Sound Blaster Z.
This happens to me as well. Hitting barrels or living people/animals is insanely loud. I can't wear headphones when playing this game any more. It hurts my ear very badly. If I turn down the sound enough where hitting abarrel doesn't hurt my ears then I can't hear my own footsteps (or anyone elses). This bug has been around for a long time. Please fix this Facepunch!
