Greetings!
We've recently wiped and restarted our Rust server, Rusty Spoon. It's a 50-man server located in Los Angeles (we're going to change the location to New York shortly) with some twists on the normal Rust playing experience. First off, we've done some work to restrict the military weapons, to make a more "low tech" combat experience. They dont drop from crates or zombies, nor do their blueprints. In addition, C4 drops are controlled and restricted so that raiding is possible, but groups won't be running around with stacks of 50 C4. We're doing events that reward items, as well as hiding items in crates and loot stashes around the world for the adventurous to find.
We're running the Rust++ mod. There is full PvP and PvE, sleepers are turned off (although we'd like to implement a mod that keeps your character in-game for 5 minutes after logging out, to prevent combat logging), and the loot drops are highly modified.
The restricted weapons are:
M4
MP5A4
Shotgun (The modern pump shotgun)
P250
9mm Pistol
The weapons still in are:
Bolt Action Rifle
Revolver
Hunting Bow
Hand Cannon
Pipe Shotgun
Our hopes are that with the restricted weaponry, the pace of combat will change and it will be a more slow, thought out process where skill and tactics win over sheer firepower. Combat will likely be slower, with less ammunition expenditure, and at closer ranges. We're excited to see how it plays out in firefights.
We have active admins and aggressively pursue cheaters to prevent them ruining the server.
