So far Rust looks really good but I'm wondering if it's worth to buy it right now just to have a good time and have fun or wait a bit.
You'll get varying opinions, especially after this latest update.
If you're the kind of person that can understand that a game is far from completion and there will be a lot of changes and bugs and are in fact interested in the whole development process and want to contribute your feedback and help mould the game into what it will one day become then get it!!
If you're the kind of person that wants a complete fully working game and doesn't like changes and bugs. Then don't get it.
Choice us yours :)
My personal opinion would have to be a yes. I love the game. I haven't encountered many issues regarding bugs, frame rate issues and server lag. It's fun, but if you really want to enjoy the grab a few friends to play with. Or make some while playing, I've met a great bunch of guys from America and we've played together for weeks using skype. If you don't like an incomplete game, wait a month or two and check the developer blog, etc. I hope my opinion helped you out and hopefully we can all play with you soon! :)

I have played this game too much that said if you want a real life please save yourself now it would be more productive developing a hard drug habit.

I prefer to wait for the final release but let me tell you that this alpha work well and the game is fun.
Yes, however atm you need to be prepared for it. Lots of PvP, and if you play on official servers you will deal with cheaters (lots until more get banned later). If are okay with that and prepared for it, the game is a blast and it's like 2% done so there lots lots lots more to come.
If you have issues with rage - then dont buy.
If you know how to have fun just the sake of having fun - you'll love it
I'm quite enjoying it. It's very unpolished, but just the building and raiding reminds me a bit of a more serious version of minecraft. As is it's a funny way to kill time, it has however the potential to be more.
Sure, first of all - its the only alpha, that you really enjoy to play (not like other early access projects).
And second - its a supporting devs, new abillities etc...
Don't question it, buy it, find friends and play!
I would say yes, I've easily had £15 worth of enjoyment out of the game already. Hell, I had my moneys worth in my first 6 hours easily!
Maybe buy it when it's really far into it's early access and before full release.
But look at the videos of people playing, and if you like what you see buy it, if you've got friends and they say they like it.. well, give it a shot. But if you're unsure, just wait a bit, do more research and video watching until you can make a decision, or just simply put it off for a few months and wait for about 6 updates and see if the game is anything you'd prefer..
Yes.
Warning: Do not buy this game expecting the end product to be anything what it's like now.
The fun part is being a part of an actively developed game, seeing it start to take shape and how the development process works.
The problem here is that you're asking us to give you our feedback if we would buy the game and, if it's worth getting on a ALPHA game that is only 11% done. In it's current state the game has great potential. The PVP of the game is extremely high. Even PVE servers still have PVP in it. I'll explain below.
Online Vs Online.
- Currently the Most Fun of the game. There is Constant Fighting of weapons and weapons vs other players. But there is also the fact your competing for resources and location. Everyone is rushing around trying to get more resources than the next person. (thats part of the reason people get killed while running around naked). People are competing for all those resources and don't want to take the chance a naked has a TON on them. Also being raided and raiding people's bases while both people are online is a ton of fun. You either lose your stuff or gain other people's stuff. It's intense and fun when you come out on top. IF you lose, well it makes you want to quit the game for a night and you end up coming back the next day to start over.
Online vs Offline.
- This is the conflict people have right now in this game. When you log off your body stays IN the game. This allows those people who are online to raid your base, find your body, or just plain take their time and get all your stuff because the world (server) doesn't turn off when you log out. Your in game character continues to stay in the game and stuff can be gotten off of it. Now when your the one online, you feel good your taking this guys crap and killing him and ruining his base.. your feel great and sneaky. But, at the same time when your the guy that logs in afterwards it makes you feel like crap that your stuff is all gone. SO this is actually a huge conflict people have right now.
Online vs NPC's
- This is the Main part of farming and advancing in this game. NPC's drop blueprints. Which in turn you can research and be provided with a advancement of your character. You permanently can learn new things (until a server wipe) that you can use to craft no matter how many times you would die. You always know it and with enough resources, you can always make. This is why most people are BUTT hurt over losing zombies in this game. It took a LARGE part of the games mechanics of player advancement and turned it into a JOKE of red "animals" that drop these parts and Blueprints for players to "farm" and gather. People like having to work hard for this type of advancement and when you can put 100 wolves in a field, have 1 guy run around dragging them all behind him while his friends kill all the wolves and people loot them after for easy advancement.. the game is broken. (which is it's current state after the last patch).
SO i give you all this to answer your question and hope you can make a valuable and educated decision on if you want to buy this game. For now, it's 11% done and is still entertaining to me.. and i feel it IS worth the value of the current state to buy this. But keep in mind that ANY of these 3 areas are BOUND to CHANGE at any time and could alter the way people play this game. It's ALPHA and people HATE change. People don't like Things to change because they become used to "how things were" or "how things should be" and forget that they are NOT the ones making the game. they are just the ones playing it and (should be) providing valuable feedback to the people that make it.
Good luck Friend!
If I recall correctly, the game is $20.
A two hour movie with popcorn and a drink is $20. If you consider a two hour movie with popcorn and a drink to be worth spending $20 on, then I'd say this game is worth spending $20 on.
if you want a robbery simulator with much whining and hacking. this is for you.
waiting for the final release? hm then we w ill see us around 2016 i guess..
The best part of this game honestly is the same as Day Z and Infestation(I think they call it now). It's the heart pumping fights for your life knowing that you'll get robbed of all the stuff on you if you die.
Even if your the one doing the ambushing you really get immersed in the feeling of kill or be killed.
That's the way it is for me anyway.
If you think for only $20 you will get multiple games as they change it, it's a great value. But think of it like woots bag of crap, you may not always like what you get.
But yeah if you have rage problems don't buy it.
If you want entertainment, do not buy it. It is riddling with a terrible community, dedicated hackers that are solely there to ruin all your work and sweat in just a couple of seconds. A plethora of servers with admins that love to bring power to a whole new level.
If you still want to just to test this alpha, don't try to enjoy it, it was not meant to be enjoyable, if you try to enjoy you'll get mad.
So buy it ONLY to test.
