• Will "tool" raiding ever be viable again?

First thing's first, I understand the game is in alpha and is constantly changing. One week "tool" raiding was OP, now it is useless. It can all change again next week until they find balance. Balance is not right at the moment. I would have less of a problem with it if C4s were easier to obtain. On low pop servers, I imagine it's not too difficult to acquire a C4 and Explosive blueprint. On a server (Rustafied as an example) if it's very difficult to acquire said blueprints. These blueprints are hard to obtain because Rad Towns are still able to be closed off from the public. At one point, sealing off a rad town was a good strategy but difficult to maintain. Sealing off rad towns with the latest patch is pretty much a sure-thing now. This isn't the only obstacle one has against finding these blueprints. Large pop servers means a constant stream of players in rad towns. Especially when every other spawn point is beside a rad-town. Find a rad-town on the map that isn't sealed off? Well there are probably 6 others Newman's running through it at that time. I am not here to complain, I am here to discuss possible balance to re-introduce raiding. As of yesterday's patch, raiding has went down considerably. 1) Increase the damage to Stone walls by a small margin to Pick Axes and Ice Picks. Leave Hatchet damage as is to Stone. Leave Durability as is so that it still costs a lot of resources to raid. Arrows damage should stay as is, it was too powerful before. Arrows should never be a means of raiding. Guns on the other hand could be a viable option as well. It's loud and cost heavy. 2) Increase Hatchet damage to Wood walls. Same as above. Lower damage from Ice Picks and Pick Axes. 3) Metal Walls should be very difficult to raid. To be honest, these should be the only walls that realistically require C4 to raid. If you want to stay safe, build metal walls. If you have Stone or Wood you should know better then to log off for the night. 4) Perhaps introduce a new raiding tool designed specifically for raiding. Perhaps a large drill that gives off a lot of noise to the surrounding area around it. Intoducing something like this could be useful for raiding Stone Walls/Floors but nothing else. Hoping we will see more balance in next weeks patch. I am sure there is a split crowd regarding this issue. Some people will love it, some will hate it depending on which side you are on.
I hope not, what they need to do is bring back grenades like in legacy for the lower end explosive raiding tool or some other easier to get lower end explosive.
yeah, there need to be a cheap explosive solution, barrel full of gunpower or something like that. that would be very expensive to raid with, but still possible for a group of 2-3. now melee raiding is only possible if the owner have left some wood cieling or floor somewhere in the house, like forgot to reinforce under his stairs or things like that.
Ugg I can't get close to a rad town -_- there are walls around them and ppl with guns guarding the entrance. And then can't get an air drop because a group with guns shows up and blows my face off. I feel like I can't progress. Even my nice house got taken out. D,:

D,:[/QUOTE] It's been a week now, and with an average of 3-4 hours a day since last Monday I still haven't found a hatchet BP, pickaxe or icepick BP, or any clothing BP's. I can make all the bullets, gun powder, and the eoka, but that's it. I put sleeping bags at the radtowns and have spent hours just respawning and running in. I've never seen a crate in Large Rad, but I've managed to get a few in small rad - even finding a Thompson! I have small stash houses at either end of the desert and I spend hours running back and forth between them breaking barrels. I can't say that I dislike the rarity of guns, but the lack of decent tools is really becoming frustrating. I've found 3 icepicks and 1 hatchet, but barely use them because most likely I'll just lose them since I have about 30% chance of dying whenever I'm out. My strategy is to just run out with a rock and break barrels. I always find a bow and arrows within 2-3 barrels then just use that to break barrels since it makes minimal noise and you can find them so easy. We just need research kits back! Then there's a point to try and kill someone with a gun if I have a kit back at home.

I've ran around for hours smashing barrels to find building plan BPs and sleep bag BPs...which feels like a sick joke lol

Nothing more defeating than finding my 5th pair of Burlap Pants BP's. Why are there even blueprints for those? Are we not going to be able to make Building Plans without BP's some day?
I thought I was hot shit for getting all the crates in 2 of the rad areas yesterday within a minute. One set of crates had bows and 5 arrows (all of them) and the other rad area had bp for tool cupboard, sleeping bag, and building plan. I definitely felt like I was being trolled by the game.
They took the starter BP's out today, so they wont muddy the drops anymore (e.g. sleeping bag and all the stuff we start with anyways) certainly hope that helps... just hoping they restarted servers so it'll be active when I'm off work tonight...
