Just wanted to raid someone, where I needed 8C4 for 2 wood walls... I made a video for this: http://youtu.be/Gguqz_oF4TA please fix this, asap... UPDATE: http://youtu.be/7xKXEcMy-tw
Idiot you have to place it directly in the center...
Idiot you have to place it directly in the center...
did you watch the video my friend? Even If you would place it in the bottom right corner, you never ever need 8 c4 for a single wall... maximum 2.
did you watch the video my friend? Even If you would place it in the bottom right corner, you never ever need 8 c4 for a single wall... maximum 2.
Maybe those boxes inside are "absorbing" some of the damage from the explosions?
when you place the c4 on a wood wall it will blow things up behind it such as crates and stairs but will not affect the wall untill everything behind it is blown up
Can you please advise me your server's address, i'm currently looking for a creative server :)
Maybe those boxes inside are "absorbing" some of the damage from the explosions?
exactly. they should fix is, I dont think this is intented... And sometimes, if you wanted to blow up Wall X and you plant C4 on it, Wall X keeps undamaged but Wall Y is completely blown away, also happened a floor higher. its just very very buggy.
first off fresh wood walls can take 3 c4's secondly u are not placing them in the center everytime
first off fresh wood walls can take 3 c4's secondly u are not placing them in the center everytime
Again. U never need more than 2 or 3 c4 for a wood wall when you plant it on the most worst spot... And you need 1 for the center. In the video I needed 8 C4, pretty good in the center.
Hes placing them close enough to the center, its just clearly a bug. I've seen fresh walls go in one c4.
first off fresh wood walls can take 3 c4's secondly u are not placing them in the center everytime
Fresh walls go down with 1 C4 ALL the time. Please get a clue before you come in here trying to tell people whats what when you do not even know.
Hes placing them close enough to the center, its just clearly a bug. I've seen fresh walls go in one c4.
pretty much this, u should never need more than 2 c4 for wood walls... fuck i can bang out a metal wall with 2 c4.
I personally think wood walls taking 2 c4 is way too low xD. I feel like 4 c4 minimum would be good for walls. Yea metal walls and doors are stronger, but its not like you can immediately start a metal base. You have to build up to it some how from a wood base. I also believe you should be able to place metal foundations next to wood :(.
Unlucky bug. Usually it's just 1 c4.
One time I centered 3 on a fresh barred window and it didnt go. The wood wall went in 1 (it wasn't fresh). Was I wrong targeting the bars opposed to the wood window frame?
Again. U never need more than 2 or 3 c4 for a wood wall when you plant it on the most worst spot... And you need 1 for the center. In the video I needed 8 C4, pretty good in the center.
yep, i just love guys giving advices when they never even tried to destroy wall.. we had few such situations.. on one wall we put 6 c4s, and he get darker and darker but never went down.. but inside it cracked many things, you hear that cracking noise.. even today, we put i think 7 c4s on metal wall and it didn't go down.. like guys said, problem is that "absorbing crates" which is really irritating..
Realized this the other day. If there is something intersecting or touching the wall it takes multiple C4 to blow it. Like crates, furnaces, even environmental surfaces i think. Try to find a bare wall to increase your chances. Wasted 2 charges on a wall that had a rock in it before using a 3rd charge to blow up another "clean" wall to the room. I hope this is just a bug and will be fixed and not a 'working as intended' function. You can see in the video that even just the corner of the boxes intersecting the wall causes them to take more C4. Frustrating Another time i just remembered. I tried to blow up a wooden wall, placed 2 charges on it. The wall was still standing but the doorframe on the adjacent wall was destroyed
Do more tests determining the possible absorption of damage from various items. Furnaces, stairs, lesser boxes, various amounts of items, etc. Maybe it is all a factor.
If there is a box/stairs behind the wall, you need to put the c4 above this structure, so you just need to be sure that there is free space for one c4 between your c4 and the structure (but still near center) Tested that one on my server to give all players same chances (im not playing myself) - works for 99% with 1 c4
ive played over 500 hours and ive never seen a fresh wall go in 1 c4... infact ive seen people come raid my fresh walls thinking exactly what u said and have to leave because they do not have enough
ive played over 500 hours and ive never seen a fresh wall go in 1 c4... infact ive seen people come raid my fresh walls thinking exactly what u said and have to leave because they do not have enough
i got over 500hours too and i saw like 10+ FRESH(we blown one and they instant put new one, craft pillar>blow again>put pillar ) walls go in 1c4.

lol. Facepunch needs that fixed ASAP.
I did a thread on random C4 blowing wrong wall. Some guy said in there that the walls have 2 sides, one side has a pale plank down the middle and the other side is dark. Always place on the side with the pale strip. The dark one is reinforced and often results in random wall blow outs. Also, always people who have to argue against for no reason in this forum. 8 C4 placed almost centrally, as in the video, to blow one wall is clearly stupid. Keep doing what you're doing btw, you didn't even have the big C4 bug on this where when you place it, it blows out another wall on the other side of the house but not the one you placed it on. Try and capture that one on video if you can.
What do you mean ive never done this??? Ive planted many walls and a fresh wall has never gone in one charge for me, nor have I seen it done against me. If it does go in 1 c4 thats shity and shouldnt be that way.
Update: http://youtu.be/7xKXEcMy-tw this needs to be fixed before all other bugs!!!
This is NOT a bug and this is NOT an exploit. The "c4" bug is another thing that was already mentioned in this topic but it's not really a "bug" either. This is fully intended and you guys should try to at least understand what's going on before calling people dumb/stupid. First of all there are two types of wood wall. The first type you see the black wood in the middle is when the arrows are going up in the middle and down to the sides. This mean that the wall is reinforced in the middle from the OUTSIDE. The second type is the one that's white on middle. you'll see that every arrow is facing the same direction when you're going to place this type of wood wall. This mean that you are placing the wall on the wrong side and the wrong direction. Arrows going up on middle and down to the sides = 2 c4. Arrows going down on middle and on the sides = 1 c4. The down middle SHOULD be pointed inside the house and the up middle outside. This way it takes 2 c4 from the outside to destroy your house and 1c4 from the inside. And the reason you are destroying the other wall is because the C4 does AOE damage and this one was reinforced while the other one was NOT reinforced. You should build every wall as reinforced from the outside while the interior walls reinforced to the inside. This way they will take twice as many c4 they need to destroy EVERY wall.

Even reinforced metal walls are not intended to take 8. wall placement aside, the issue clearly occurs when something is intersecting the wall; ie stairs, boxes, furnaces, environmental structures. 1 c4 to the center, 2 at the most should take down wooden walls. An example of this happened to me. I place 2 charges dead center of a wall and the wall still stood. But the door frame adjacent to the wall blew up instead
