Hostile mobs hitting us from long distances (or so it seems)

My friends and I were playing last night after the new patch was released and one thing we immediately noticed was that we seemed to be getting hit from the mobs from quite a distance away.
I went on a few other servers and the same thing was happening - I'm not sure if something was changed when the patch was released or if this is some kind of bug, or even if we're just imagining things, but it seems like they're hitting us from a lot farther then they should be. They're much too far away for me to hit them with my melee weapon, anyways - probably 2-3 times that range.

Anybody else notice this, by any chance?
