Every time I attempt experimental branch I get a message saying the game has failed to start (unknown error). Did the min. requirements change? I've tried reinstalling both the game and steam, but I can't seem to find more information on this issue.
I have this problem too. You can try to launch game from folder, where Rust Experimental is installed. I tried to do this -> but after launching game, I can't connect to the server.
Sorry for my English, I from Russia c:

Thanks, Vlad. Having issues staying on a server so far, but at least I can attempt to play it now.
You cannot join a server if you launch the exe directly from the game directory because it bypasses EAC. You have to launch it with Steam.

I'm not sure what to do then. If I try from Steam nothing happens, "Failure to start: Unknown Error". If I launch directly from the exe, it starts up just fine but I quickly get booted from the server over bypassing EAC.
I have the same http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1411593
I had noticed that you are using Windows XP too. Maybe that's the cause of the problem.

Could be, but I don't think that should be the cause as it seems to run fine. I can run around on a experimental server for a minute by using the experimental exe locating in its folder before EAC gives me the boot.
oh, yah might be windows XP......
i was thinking it was because i installed it in a custom directory.
i really hope it isn't an XP issue.....
i uninstalled 7 and installed XP because i couldn't stand that 7 shit...

I feel you. I'm about ready to look into Linux or something.
Could you give some more information on the operating system and anti-virus you're using? Does the error message mention something about a code?
My OS is XP. I use Comodo Firewall and Spybot S&D. The error message from steam mentions nothing about a code. It simply reads failed to start (unknown error).
I also use windows XP and ever since experimental came out I wasn't able to launch the game due to an unknown error.
Post your specs man, you must be running some pretty ancient hardware on XP.
