• Ambient sounds are great but...

Would be nice to have the ambient sounds a bit more natural in their duration. Right now it's a continuous sound in many places. The wind or crickets or whatever should come in waves so to speak, followed by moments of quiet or stillness. Just a thought. Love the sounds!! Sometimes the wind on the mountains sound like police sirens...

As soon as we add weather I'm going to be doing more variations with different wind speeds :) I definitely agree that the howly wind is a little bit too howly right now too haha.

Eventually there should be a radiated biome, where the ambient sound is really really creepy. Like dead space level creepy. Good ambient sound though.

how about reading the dev blog posted today at playrust.com -- it discusses this issue and what they are working on for sound improvements. playrust.com is a must read if you want to understand the devleopment of the game mates.

I just wish that wolf or hyena howl actually came from an existing animal.. Hearing that wolf howl gives me the creeps each time, if there was actual wolves wiht it would be nice. Heck they could even reply to each other and howl in groups. That would definitely freeze a nude guys blood hearing that nearby at night.
I have to agree with the general consensus of this thread. The ambient sounds are actually really good. They're just too constant and without variation within a biome. But seriously, I love the ambient sounds overall.
I mostly want the haunting sound of a night-time breeze rustling through the tall grass of the valley you are hiding in, as the clouds overhead are dark and speeding by, and a light sprinkle is coming down over your head. Dramatic shit like that. Pull those kind of ambient sounds off, and I will be sucked into Rust for good.

Looking over and seeing the little bastard would be a whole new level of panic. And from then on out the howling would be even more effective. Each predator should have something like that--especially a noise for acquiring a target.
