• [Suggestion] Skills or Technique Books

As soon as i saw all these new weapons you guys will be bringing in i thought of an idea to sit alongside bps. So Skill books Or Technique Books what ever you wanna call it. Can be a book that is found either maybe in hidden locations, barrels, radtown or landmarks. That can teach you a skill of some kind. my first thought was a weapon duel wield skill book and a tool version for farming. Bringing in the possibility to roam the lands with two swords carving up people left right and centre. (SAO :P) the same could be done with one handed farming tools for a quicker farm. The idea of skill books could bring in a lot of new dynamics. seeing as you learn the skill from reading a book, imagine being able to teach others the skill learnt maybe is less effective then finding the book itself. you could have The Lumberjacks Handbook 20% tree farm increase. or leg day guide 20% increased movement speed (maybe not) also with the duel wield skill it brings in the option for shields and swords. while writing this i thought that maybe all weapons can block bullets so a shield and massive sword could actually allmost take out a guy with a gun if lucky what are your thoughts
Skill books? Sure, as long as the boost lasts one life and isn't OP. It's not like Rust should be an RPG game at all.
How about you dont "learn" the book. Instead you need to keep it in your inventory to make use of it. This way you need to be careful where you put and when you use it.

true true i like your thinking. risk for gains that is rust
i suggested this system for blueprints ages back, that way they become a tradeable/lootable commodity instead of a single use item;) i'm not really one for skills, but i like the system still.

I personally don't think they should be permanently learned, but should be loot that you'd have to protect/keep in order to use.
I agree with Andre, should last Aslong as you survive.. If your out harvesting a bunch of trees Or stone I think after so long you should be able to harvest a little more at a time , "evolving".. But once again, only stays Aslong as you been alive..
I think these ideas are great for an RPG but rust isn't an RPG. The debs have said many times they don't like these types of systems and rust won't be an RPG. The point of rust is to let players be free to play their own way, the skills you have are the one you personally possess so the person behind the keyboard and mouse is where the skill comes from not an artificial construct within the code. That being said I do think that these ideas have merit, if a person does the same activity for long enough they should get better at it. I just don't know how you translate that into this game.

I am a huge fallout fan and think the way books were implemented there was perfect. But that's an RPG. If there was any perk to be had it definitely should be lost on death.
