I have seen all of these things mentioned before in other threads but wanted to bring it all together into a single discussion to see if we can get any kind of response, or indication on the future of triangles.
IMO these issues are currently holding back a TON of build diversity in Rust. I would love for these to get some attention so that we can all start building more diverse structures without suffering massive vulnerabilities... And i'm sure we'd all love to see a move away from box towers!
1.) Triangle pieces never received the strength vs tools buffs, and as such can be broken through like paper compared to square blocks (Biggest reason currently to not use them at all - they are an open invitation to come take all your shit).
2.) Triangles cost too much! (As do pillars) For their size they should not have equal cost to a square foundation/floor. A six triangle hexagon shape gives a usable size barely bigger than one square but costs 6x as much in foundations alone!
3.) No triangle block (half block)
4.) No stairs option for triangle blocks (being able to build a circular staircase winding up inside a hex shape would be awesome)
Please feel free to post any extra triangle related build issues you think could help!
TLDR: Triangles need love too!
The bad news is that triangles have historically lagged the other pieces (upgrade options, HP changes, pillars, etc). The good new is that those issues did get fixed. So even if it's a low priority, the HP adjust will come.
The worry points are cost per area and triangle block/stairs, which get a steady stream of requests but no movement yet.
Triangles have 43% of the surface area of a square foundation btw.

You can already do #4, at least on the outer ring of a hexagon. Try an alternating pattern of triangle floors and square floors, and put your stairs on the squares.
