Here is a house me and a couple of guys made on an official server. I didn't count how much wood it took but its 90 foundations for the base.

The doors look funky because we built them out to prevent griefing. Everything else is a ramp preventing any additional building, and adding an additional barrier against c4.

we started with 9x10 base, on the first floor move in 1 foundation and build a wall around. on the second floor move in 1 ceiling and build a wall around that and keep moving up levels until your top level is 1x2. Then put ramps on everything.
