It takes inspiration from games like DayZ, Minecraft, and STALKER. To survive in Rust you may choose to work together with friends and strangers, scavenging for supplies and building giant bases, or go at it alone, killing other players for loot. Unlike DayZ, Rust aims at being a game that gives players the freedom to play the way that they want, and that doesn't involve a hero and bandit system. General chat eh? Alright then, I'll join in with a complaint I didn't feel was worth starting a thread and/or getting banned for: How the flying fuck is it taking this long (roughly two days) to update the game? Granted, I know precisely nothing about game development, but in every other case I've seen the game was still up and doing its thing until the update was finished and applied, not shut down during the whole damn process. And two days seems like an insane update time, unless the devs decided to implement literally all of the potential updates at once. Again, I know absolutely nothing about game development, but I figured they'd have done something and brought the game back up by now. As is, it just seems like Pat is getting his beauty sleep while Helk dies repeatedly and resurrects. And all we've seen so far out of this narcolepsy/mass-murder combo is a new logo/title. Not exactly worth two days of waiting. Yes, I am indeed aggravated, thanks for your concern.

Then there's the fact that this update has some large scale backend changes which might be causing some trouble. Of course I am just as eager to play the game as you are and I would love to hear some more news on the development status. But it's an alpha, we should give the devs a break.

I wonder if there would be a way to keep it after you could get it? Maybe build a garage or something lol.

It just feels like a crap load of people looking at this might think "I WANT A KEY SO I CAN PLAY RUST FOREVER!!" it just feels like total crap that lots of people want a key even though the game is in closed alpha.

Do you think being able to lay down roads would be a bad idea? Probably, but im sure the devs will get round to it soon.

I don't remember completely but I think it was a ghost like some of the dead players where you could just walk through it. Thanks.
