• Rust server @ 50% cpu usage after wipe
    22 replies, posted
So most of us got wiped because of some cpu usage problem apparently. I've never seen my server pass something like 10% even with 40 people on. Funny thing is, since the wipe when I woke up this morning, the server was at 50% and had very bad latency... This is with HFB Yeah.
It's an error with the latest patch. I'm putting it down to the zombies replacements, only thing I can think of which would spawn in and create a considerable load... Could be something barmy though.
Yeah basically HFB force wiped everyone's servers for no reason. Oh well, they were trying to help, alpha, etc etc.
Yeah basically HFB force wiped everyone's servers for no reason. Oh well, they were trying to help, alpha, etc etc.
For no reason? Hmm, wouldn't this be what's called a reason:
The most recent Rust update released by the developers have caused severe performance issues when using old saves. To correct this issue, we will need to wipe the server’s save data folder “myserverdata”. Our control panel will go into maintenance mode at 6:30 EST. During the maintenance, all Rust services will be restarted. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

For no reason? Hmm, wouldn't this be what's called a reason:
Yeah except that didn't actually solve anything. Hence the "trying" to help. Educate yourself before you post.
I'm back at 40% cpu already with 33 players, up from 2% one minute ago. :/
It's almost like there's a massive memory leak that's causing servers to overload.
I have seen a few areas that appear glitched. One in particular shows a concrete bldg that should either not be there or be buried in stone. You can not get to it as invisible stone blocks your path. This could be a major map error and a big contributor to the issue.
HFB also uses the worst hardware and has the shittiest support there is. I'm so glad I'm switching from them at the end of this month. Funny enough they dropped servers from 1GB of ram down to 512MB. If that doesn't scream stupid and garbage, I don't know what does.

Hardware wise all of our servers are at minimum E3-1230v2 or newer 16gb of ram minimum 100mbps port minimum We run one game server per cpu thread. I have also personally spoken with the Owner of FPSplayers and they also run the same hardware spec wise and also have a one game server per cpu thread approach.
the problem with shared hosting is that there's always a retarded server owner that somehow manages to spaz out the whole machine causing problems for all the other server owners
hey HFBServers, when are we gonna get modding-friendly servers? meaning servers we can actually add custom mods and not just pre-selected ones you decided to install ?
My server has spiked to around 40% CPU twice since the wipe, causing players to be unable to connect. It probably would have spiked more than that, but the first CPU spike went unnoticed (since I was asleep) for 8+ hours.

So you can upload any/all Oxide plugins. Seems pretty mod friendly to me.
It's almost like there's a massive memory leak that's causing servers to overload.
That's because there is a memory leak with the new patch would love a fix Facepunch!
1.) All GSP's have the problem 2.) Need to find a solution 3.) Go to the Winchester. Have a nice cold pint an wait for the fix ("Winchester plan")
They said our location would get wiped @ 2/8/14 @ 6:30pm To be honest I already forced wiped (and the cpu usage went up ONLY after I wiped and went to the new map) On a side note I backed up everything and am just going to re-upload it, not going to wipe my small playerbase two times in one day And I'm giving up on rust after this month and closing down my server - game isn't worth the money, I'll be back in a few years
Wiping won't do anything guys. We did it, 3 times.

Its funny how all the admin "pros" are punching in HFB's Direction. The Issue is present at ALL providers! Its an Alpha and the new Patch of Rust is just crap. There are so much new bugs... Maybe you folks should relax a little bit.

Same thing happening with rustgameservers.com Sent in a ticket and this is the response they gave me - An update to rust causes high cpu usage for the server now. We are working on a fix for this, but haven't implemented anything yet.
