Regarding the State of Official Servers and the hackers that infest them

I play on Sydney 4. It has been my 'home' server since I began playing in January. It deeply saddens me to see such a lack of admin presence each and every week, however. There have been numerous known hackers blatantly cheating on this particular server for 3 wipes now.. I understand that Facepunch has very few admins, and that their time is no doubt spent on other tasks also, but when you report the same players almost hourly in-game, and through direct STEAMID tweets to the Rusthackreport Twitter page without any result whatsoever after weeks/months, things begin to just get depressing.
Here's what I am desperately hoping for: If the official admin count/presence is still not likely to increase in the near future, is there any possibility of appointing 'community assistant admins' to the official servers? Ones whom are active, fair, and passionate about seeing Rust be as enjoyable to each legit player as possible? I've seen more and more players, including my own group, simply quitting the game entirely to play other 'survival' genre games based on the lower frequency of hackers..
This will most likely get nothing close to an official response whatsoever. But my attempt alone should be seen as a testament to how dire the situation has become. If something isn't done soon, I too will most likely quit playing and no longer recommending the game to others. I am entirely aware of the Community Servers, but I see no reason why the population of the Official servers should be neglected to decay in such a fashion that will eventually see them permanently empty. That would be sad for the game's image overall.
Thanks for your time.
Test servers.
Why don't you stop playing on official servers and find a well run community server with active admins to play on ?
I totaly get it that there are official servers and I myself doesnt like to hit a tree and get like 10K wood per hit
I really feel like the offical servers are maybe more difficult to play on and some people like that and others dont
If they ever would be looking for admins in the community i'm totaly up for it and would like to sign up asap :)
anyways keep up the good work facepunch but like Brazzers said a bit more speed would be nice.
Here's the deal: the official servers rarely have admins on them. If you'd like to play on a server with admins, find a community server. There are many, many, many options to choose from. I like a vanilla server with a pop of around 30-50; YMMV.
If you are going to continue playing on the official servers, you are going to continue getting beaten down by cheaters.

If your argument is that on community servers you get 10k wood per hit, then you should go and play on some community servers because you obviously do not have solid arguments to back up your thesis. Check out Rustarians, Rustopia and other 'Vanilla' servers that revolve around playing the same way you play on official servers, just with a more interesting (in my opinion) community and active admins doing a lot to keep their servers clean of hackers and bicholas. Of course that revolves entirely around the owners and it is sometimes the case of the so-called 'admin abuse'.
P.S. Rustopia, the largest community server will soon be getting new admins as Kulan, one of the server admins, said a new crew will be coming there.
Servers listed under the "Community" tab are by definition vanilla servers. Just not run (poorly) by facepunch. Plenty of people playing the vanilla game, and not complaining about rampant cheating. Sounds like a win.
Someone suggested that Face Punch close down the Official Servers, personally I thinks it's a good idea, shut em down for a month or so for maintenence. This will push official server players out towards the community servers, resulting in giving community admins extra work looking after their servers and banning hackers, I think is a good thing, this could lead to an even higher rate of bans against hackers.
Face Punch could even consider the possibly of giving more community servers an official status(instead of just Rustified), this means Face Punch would not have to hire people to administer their official servers or pay for server upkeep, but instead they could donate regularly to the new official community servers to help server admins.
Tl,dr
Close Official Servers for maintenance.
Promote a limited number of Community Servers to Official Status.
Divert former server upkeep funds to Newly Promoted Community Servers.

What. I find it highly unlikely a Community server admin would want MORE WORK and banning hackers from a community server doesn't remove them from the game, just that server. So you want to brush all the people who play on Official consistently and enjoy it just to get some hackers banned from some community servers? Alright.

Server Admins do want more work, there are always posts of server advertising on reddit Rust page, in the past 2 months i have had to report over 40 server advertising ads on reddit (it's against the rules and must be posted in another reddit section )these Admins want more people, if they want more people this means they're willing to work more for it. Eventually a hacker could run out of good servers to exploit their hack on. Not only that we could share a Hacker ban list so that all community servers share the same bans. This way hackers are not just banned from one community server but all of them.
I don't use official servers because I am an admin for a friends server, and as admin I wouldn't mind the extra work if it meant more players.
They are WILLING to work for more players, does not mean they WANT more work. And dealing with hackers is a pain in the ass. Yeah a bit of snooping around at most and they are gone but then you get nonstop complaining and demands for compensation.
A shared list between community servers presents an issue as well. If it is all shared then what is there to stop someone who has access to that list from altering it in a destructive way. An Australian Warband community called LCC (which was huge) was brought down by an admin who had shared access to their portal (ban lists, server information, etc) and he waited 9 months to do it.
Another example is how the trolling/hacking group Team Avolition gained access to a global banning list for a lot of Minecraft servers and went on a spree, even banning the lists creator.

That was me
Community servers are not reliable, have admins which often abuse power, are prone to die any time, or shutoff, there is no point in playing in community servers unless you are a casual player. Hardcore players are playing on officials. Saying that "official servers have more hackers" is true, but absurd. The ones managed by Facepunch should have admins. I'm saying this since Legacy.
Some community servers are VERY reliable, and they have fewer hackers. Shutting down the official servers would drive all players into the welcoming arms of community server admins, many of whom are starved for players. They want players, which is why they started Rust servers in the first place.
Good servers are servers that stay up most of the time, don't abuse admin powers, and ban hackers. Bad servers tolerate hackers, have problems staying up, or have admins who behave like hackers. Reputation would swiftly separate the good servers from the bad.
I'll bet there would be a month or two adjustment period, after which we would find most of the player population on the good servers, and the hackers and assholes left to cheat and grief each other on small, unloved, low pop servers.
Facepunch only has a couple of people who admin the official servers in a part time way, and they are up against hundreds or thousands of hackers all doing their level best to ruin everyone else's good time. By pushing the administration of the game on to the community, the cop / robber ratio swings from 1:1000 to something more like 200:1000. Hacker would become a lot more rare.
