Rust is in Alpha ... It's THAT simple.
I know people don't like hearing it, but I don't think some people understand entirely what it means. So I'm going to help..
Rust is not a finished game, it's not even close. Most games are never released to the public during alpha, a lot of games don't even release a public beta and those that do tend to be extremely up tight about it. Preventing people even taking screenshots.
The developers of rust decided to release the game during early alpha not to piss people off, but to give people an incredible opportunity. To help them quickly find and work out the bugs but much more importantly, to help them design the game! They pay close attention to our feedback and ideas and many of them could one day end up in the game. Something that wouldn't be possible without releasing the game this early on. It's still mostly an blank canvas.
This does however mean a few things .. There will be bugs .. And there will be changes. YOU WERE WARNED BEFORE PURCHASING!
Yes, after the last update there are a few bugs. You're not alone, we have all found some. But here's the good new .. The game isn't broken! .. They can be fixed! :D Those of you moaning that they shouldn't release an update without thoroughly testing seem not to realise that by buying a game that's in alpha .. You are agreeing to be a part of the testing "team". We are the testers. They release an update, we give them feedback, they fix it. If you expect them to do all of that too then feel free to double the waiting time of each and every update.
And Yes .. Things change. Zombies have been in the pipeline for a long time, they wanted to get it done before people got too attached. Whenever they did it they knew there would be complaints. I honestly can't believe the amount of people crying that a few 1 shot enemies have been taken out and been replaced with ones that are harder to kill. If you want to kill zombies there are plenty of other games out there.
And yes .. The red bears and wolves aren't great .. But believe it or not, they aren't permanent. They will be replaced. They're just a placeholder.
In fact, just so that people don't get too upset next time something changes. Let me brace you with a few secrets.
- The entire map will change. Yes .. It's a test map, the real ones will be bigger and better and filled with loads more stuff. So please don't get upset when the test map goes.
- M4 and other modern weapons will probably be removed. Yes .. The devs have said that they feel that these weapons don't really fit in with the theme of the game. And if they stay .. They will require several parts, lots of materials and take several hours to make. They won't come easy. If you wanna use modern weapons to kill each other .. There are plenty of other games out there, rust is not a modern warfare game.
Instead of complaining about things that change or don't work, try and be helpful, constructive. We've been given a great opportunity here to be part of what I one day feel will be one of the greatest games I will have ever played. Just be patient, and be a part of it.
Sigh .. Rant over .. Sorry just had to get that off my chest, I was getting bored of saying the same things on every other post :)
Thanks for reading :)
Well said.
Wait... so you expect me to actually read the descriptions and warnings the Devs gave before I bought the game instead of going on the forums complaining about an unfinished game?
Well sir... that's just preposterous.
You see, I pride myself in being an omniscient gamer who knows exactly how every game should be played and developed, and when the Devs have the... the... the TENACITY to refuse my all-knowing knowledge and instead go in their own direction. Well, my dear friend, that is unacceptable. I should have everything given to me fully finished and unhindered by this rank "Development" process. BAH! How dare the Devs try to allow me to enjoy their unfinished filth!

Well said, but sadly most of the whiners and complainers will never read this thread. They never read the explanation of what an early access game was, or the updates on playrust.com explaining the nature of the patch. Or if they did they had zero reading comprehension.
Well said indeed everything you said makes sense
I just love the chance to play the game and see it change and develop
Yeah that's a very good point Evolution, and it's a shame. This is kind of just my way of saying I can't be bothered to read anymore pointless rants written by people who don't understand what an alpha is because there is one simple answer for every complainer ... Rust is in alpha. It really is that simple.
Alpher.
With today's information overload, it seems that nobody take the time to read anything before signing/putting their credit card down.
I work in customer service, and I see this over and over again, where people get mad because they didn't take the time to read a policy or disclaimer.
Regardless the point of alpha is to point out errors, and they gave us a LOT to point out as of the recent update.
Including complete instability of the game, so to really point out the facts. It IS broken. Until they release info on a work-around or an official fix it is simply broken.
But surely you agree that there is a big difference between pointing out errors and whining about changes to your favorite features.
You can point out an error in a constructive manner that gives the devs the feedback they are looking for.
From OP's post, it sounds like he is answering all the whiners, not the people that did what was expected and pointed out errors/bugs/exploits/whathaveyou.

We've got a few videos up showing off how 'constructive' we're even capable of being at this point. The people pointing out said errors are getting trashtalked by the community or told they are stupid. Problems at the moment are all the broken features, the desync, and server hosting issues that are affecting everybody, and to augment it all they pissed off a number of person who are starting to DDoS all official servers as well as server providers listed on the Rust Wiki.
Those people will complain anyways, even if you make 100 threads like this.
Let them complain and get over it.
Have a nice day.
