Been playing for about a week and I LOVE THIS GAME. However...
Spent a considerable amount of time, several days, in one server with a great helpful group. Built a base, starting to have fun fending off griefers etc. Then the server disappeared sometime Thursday afternoon.
Tried again in a new server Thursday evening. Gained a small foothold through a few hours of play, enough to feel like I'd made some progress and could build up to where I was in the first server. Come Friday morning, it too had disappeared.
Started again this morning. Invested another few hours and gained another small foothold. Stepped away from the game for a few hours and just went back and the server is gone.
I feel like this is a waste of time. Is my situation unusual or is this simply the state of the game?
Here's where ppl will tell you to play on the original servers (even though they are infested with abusers & there's a terrible rubberbanding every half a minute)

Those servers are probably down due to the CPU issues in the latest patch for GSP's
Seriously just stick to a modded server, it might wipe or disappear.. But atleast you have fun.
On offical servers you will encounter hackers and shizzle, no fun at all.

if you're feeling this, i'd suggest waiting until the game is more complete. currently we are in alpha, so it's important to grasp that we are more testing than playing the game.
however i'm concerned over your unfulfillment. an important part of the game is that you, and what you have built, is all finite. against settled players, it's important to accept within the game that you could lose everything at any time; i personally enjoy this, and i think that the alpha is good because it drills that lesson home.

Server wipes are a fact of life in alpha. They will happen often, and you will have little to no warning and absolutely no choice in the matter. The sooner you accept this, the happier you will be.
If you can't handle the wipes, get out of the alpha. You are in a construction zone, remember your hard hat.

hes talking about his server that he has been playing on disappeared, not wiped..

My bad. But, well, same message, really, because the servers are most likely missing because they haven't been updated. It's possible that it's due to something else, like the owner not wanting to pay for it anymore (or indeed being late on payment so the GSP shuts it down) or changing the name and IP, mind you.
Also, there have been DDOS attacks that make life difficult for servers.
your not wasting time or money or what ever its alpha what did you expect... this game was never going to run as smooth as everyone was thinking its alpha, its basically a baby in the games that are around it. You have to accept the matter of "things have to get messy before looking good" this applies to this game :P

Well Homerust Server is gone.. and also it isn't coming back.
