"But hey, if you happened to be in the middle of the map then build yourself a home there. You were not gonna go hungry." How exactly am I not supposed to starve if I can't eat them?
eat human meat. kill yourself and eat yourself. yum yum.
If you are talking about Rust Experimental, then you can't cook animal meat yet, but you can eat Human meat, which auto-cooks after about 2 mins in your inventory, and increases health by 10, and releaves hunger and thirst. Some people use an "exploit", where they build a sleeping bag then suicide next to it, (F1 > "kill"), respawn next to their own body, harvest the meat, and store it in a wooden box. Repeat this several times, and you would have enough meat stored up to sustain yourself for a week... kind of like cheating, but a last resort if you can't find meat anywhere else...
Why mention it?
Why mention what? The fact that you can eat human meat, or the fact that you can build up a reserve of it using a well-known exploit? In both cases, because the original poster asked how not to starve... I'm not really sure what your problem is, or why you rated my helpful post as dumb?
Why explain how to use an "exploit" when this forum already has several videos of it, and also, more and more servers are being flooded with people using it to bother other players, hence my rating as Dumb.
Why explain how to use an "exploit" when this forum already has several videos of it, and also, more and more servers are being flooded with people using it to bother other players, hence my rating as Dumb.
The thread starter asked a question and neil.hillman gave him the answer; it's basically the only option to not starve. I don't know what your problem is. Hence my rating as Dumb.
Explaining how to use an exploit is to me pretty dumb, but I guess we're not thinking the same, it's an Alpha, why make it worse.
Explaining how to use an exploit is to me pretty dumb, but I guess we're not thinking the same, it's an Alpha, why make it worse.
Dude... as you said it's an alpha, there will be imperfections and exploits and since this version is being developed they will be fixed. It's not gamebreaking right, it's not an exploit that will ruin anyone's day is it? It's at the moment the only way not to starve to death and only temporary. Also, since it's common knowledge that at the moment human meat is the only edible meat and upon dying a sleeping bag will let you respawn at the same place it only takes very simple logic that you can eat your own meat to survive, it's hardly an exploit.
I'm well aware of human flesh as the only source of meat now, but it doesn't minimize the amount of people using this exploit, not for meat, but to harass other players, to keep telling people about it, and yes, it's Alpha, things will change, but still. Anyways, I said what I needed in this topic.
Spreading the word about an exploit is the best way to get it fixed quickly. We are all TESTERS, afterall, NOT players.

If you looked at the various youtube videos posted in these forums, you'd know what I'm talking about. *EDIT* Looks like things got mixed up, I was referring to the fact, that this "exploit" is being used as a sort of "teleport", which infact, is being used to harras other players, hope that sorts any kind of misunderstanding we've had in previous posts.

You can even place a sleeping bag and respawn on their location. However I believe only admins can do this.

That is why it is becoming so popular, and happening on official servers where there are no admins. I have stopped testing experimental until it gets fixed. It was easy enough to break down walls/doors to raid other player's houses. With this exploit there is nothing you can do to even delay them getting into your home and killing you. It is hard to even fight back since you are both attached to each other. About the original post, I had a similar thought when I read the DevBlog. "Yeah, that would be true, if we could actually eat wolf meat.."
In DevBlog 15 Garry posted this: Wolf Meat If you’re lucky enough to bump into a wolf in the experimental version you will now be able to kill him, harvest him and eat him. It might not be as tasty as the bald guy you ate for dinner, but it puts up less of a fight. What was written in DevBlog 25 tends to indicate that Garry believes wolf meat is currently edible in experimental. There is no bug for this on the Trello board, so the OP question remains valid. Is wolf meat supposed to be cookable and edible, or is it a bug or is it a 'to do'?
