• What do we Think About a Compass?

Some of my friends think (not most) that if there was a compass in game so that people could more easily tell direction it would lead to people getting raided more often and the loot spawn would be constantly camped because it would make them more easy to find. I disagree with this wholeheartedly (totally not because I ended looting an air drop yesterday, in the chaos of getting chased I got lost and died of starvation before I could get home. Totally not bitter, I swear) because it would make a world with no landmarks in some areas of the map actually navigable without going in circles. I'm thinking it shouldn't even something that has to be crafted. Just something that your character holds up with the push of a button. It would make things so much nicer I think.
Some people have the map pretty memorized or can at least figure out their general area. I don't see how having a compass would lead to resource or loot camping because its already easy to find out which direction you need to go if you know your general area... The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Then you take it from there.
I personally would never need a compass with this current map, as i have it memorized like the back of my hand. but it would be nice to have for new people, finding your way at night, and if we get a new map it might help out abit. Also, i dont think it would lead to loot/resource camping. people know where it is, they either camp it already or dont. i think it should be a craftd item though, not default
As the others have said simple game experience will teach you all you need to know about where you're at and where you need to get to. I would be for a compass in the future when the map gets expanded and hopefully a little more confusing. At the current stage though it'd be purely convenience, and that's not a very high priority IMO.
A compass would be cool. Craftable, of course. A map that you construct by looting and combining map pieces might be cool too.
Both compass and map are for girls.
Craftable Compass would be nice, however no map please. It would be cool to have the ability to really use a compass where it actually takes some skill, aim, mark a bearing via the dial on the compass etc.
I'm not sure what the need for a compass is, since the sun and moon will always tell you what direction is what. There are two very short periods of time during noon and midnight where it can be difficult to tell which is which, but if you even have a cursory understanding of where you are it is not an issue.
I think the real benefit of a compass would not be for personal navigation but for giving your pals directions on how to get somewhere.
if anything it should be craftable-only.
It maybe will be a useful when the map gets 10 times bigger in the future... AND include places you cannot see the sky, if have - such as underground area, caves, etc. But as for now, the map isn't really terrible big and not hard to navigate around.

There are no landmarks, no wildlife, no nothing to orient yourself or help you survive until you are on the right track. I will make a note however to try and watch the sun to see where I'm going.
Really depends on the scale of the final map. Now? Eh, I don't see the point. If the map quadruples in size? Maybe. Either way, the sun and coast are two easily identifiable landmarks for direction.

A compass wont ruin anything and no reason not to have one. I mean we can make military grade weapons but the compass alludes us?
Once the map gets bigger I think a compass would be a fine addition. But right now the map is really easy to learn and navigate. I don't see the point of adding one now.
