Hi everyone,
I recently started playing Rust, but i seem to have really low fps. In it's current state it's impossible to win a fight with anyone so it's not really much fun playing.
I suspect these issues are just because of my pc, but i would like to know if there is a way to improve performance without spending money on my pc.
I have a pc that was not too expensive but still built for gaming a few years back, so i never expect things that look good to play well on high settings.
i already use the lowest resolution with the lowest rendering quality and i have tried with vsync on and off, but nothing seems to help much.
type /help in the server and see if there is a function for FPS. ex. /FPS and /FPSOFF.

Please post your specs. That'll determine the upper limit of what you can expect, and we can go from there.
this is what i get directly from the performance information and tools thingy in the control panel.

in the video he recommends going to 1280x720 but not lower. does it just not matter at all if you go lower, or does he has some other reason?

so i tried out the tricks in the forum help thread and i saw that i got 10 7-11 fps...
this is after doing all the things said in that thread. and with the force feature 11 0 thingy in my launch options.
i did however notice the following things in the config file which look like things i see in most option menus. so i though diabling some or all of them might help. i'm gonna try that now.
gfx.ssaa True
gfx.bloom True
gfx.grain True
gfx.ssao True
gfx.shafts True
gfx.tonemap True
if this doesn't help i don't think i'm going to be playing much of this unless they can optimize the game better (which may or may not be possible) and the minimum specs change.
so i disabled all those options set the resolution to 1280x720 and got up to a solid 20 fps!!! /sarcasm. until i start resizing my window because if i do that frames drop back to ten when i'm fullscreen.
