I believe that the bolt-action ironsights should be thinner and properly lined up.
At the moment, the metal rectangle at the end of the barrel is lower than the two near the stock, which is incorrect, because all three are meant to be level with each other. If the front one is lower that means that the barrel is pointing downwards, not level.
they are too thick and chunky, making it nearly impossible to compensate for bullet drop
Just remember, any weapon found is a makeshift. If I am correct on this it is not supposed to be a "perfect" gun.
On a side note. The BAR zoom is looking much better

I don't think this is true. Weapons should be aesthetically makeshift, but should still function accurately. Weapons should be balanced around recoil and bullet spread. I'm sure it'll get tweaked once the devs have had a chance to knock out some higher priority stuff.

No. If you want a long range weapon, it should be a one-shot rifle with the statistics of the BAR but a good (Say, 6x) unchangeable scope. If anything the current BAR should be toned down in accuracy to make it a hunting/infantry rifle.
Edit: What I mean is, if the current BAR gets upgraded even with scope attachments, Rust will become a sniper circlejerk. People already use the BAR in mass because it's good already, even with the shit sights.

Yup, and if I found a gun with such a shitty sight irl I would simply make it better myself. Arent that most rust players go with, realism when it fits them?
I don't really care much about realism, but yes, the bolt-action sights have always been ass and need some type of change lol. Yes, you can hit things with them, but it feels like there's some luck involved, and it's a chore to hit things with, rather than a fun weapon to use.
Filing down the sides of the front blade to make it thinner would be easy to do. Sight upgrades should be a thing,
Bp's for better sights should be added in game, Find a bottle of tritium paint and you can make night sight, Tin can and some glass can make a basic if crude 2 or 3x acog scope with scratched in range markings, Find a old binocular half and make a adjustable zooming scope :)
I wish all guns were shoddy like the BAR ironsights. The farther away this gets from a comp shooter the better.
