Hi everyone, After I closed out of Rust it said "Rust - Update required" next to its name. When I try to play the game it says "An error occurred while updating Rust (disk write error)" I'm not really sure what that means but It just wont let me on at all.

I had same error. Restarting steam helped :)
Just tried, didn't work.
Run steam as administrator

If you're on a personal computer it would probably be worth making your user account an administrator so you don't run into these kinds of silly issues.
I had to restart Steam too, but now when I try to connect to a server it just stays on the grey screen. It does say "Connected!" on the lower right of the screen but just sits there.
When I try to connect to my main server, it just stays there saying connecting and then says connection failed, Help?
My problem seems to be with my server. I updated it and now can't connect to it. I can connect to official fine though.

Whatever server you're playing on may not have upgraded to the most recent version.
