Unable to Connect to Any Servers - Rust

Upon opening Rust from Steam, I see (what I assume is) the ordinary main menu. I click on the "play game" option, and wait for the server list to fill up. I then look for a server that seems interesting, and click on it. This is where the game seems to disagree with me; nothing happens. I click again, nothing happens. No matter how many times I click, it doesn't join. I've tried restarting Steam, reinstalling, switching into the beta, opting out of the beta, though none of these worked. I've honestly been a bit worried that I'll have wasted $20 upon an amazing-looking game, and after trying all the solutions I've found from searching the forums for a few days, I still am unable to join any servers. In hopes you will help me find a solution, EpicSlice P.S. I know it seems a bit strange, with the proper grammar and all, but this is a serious post. EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention: I've already tried joining using the console, typing in net.connect (insert IP here), though that didn't work either.

No help?

I'm getting same problem. Friend are playing in a server and i can't join. Tried the net.connect and nothing. Can't join any server also.. Seems to think it was a lost on $20 as well -_-

Servers may have to update before you can join, there's a small patch.

It means there's an update you entitled swine. How about you go outside for an hour and talk to a girl. It will also cost you a hell of a lot more than $20.

Bought it last night figured it would update then like all other games sorry i dont spend much time on games as i work a lot. But glad to see rust has DB's also... Have you updated you drivers, dx etc... Do you meet the requirements to play the game. Post you specs Give more usable info so we can help...

everything updated. Meet all requirements, brand new PC i've checked myself and had others check my specs. Even checked on can you run it. Not understanding why i get connection failed on net.connect and nothing happening when i click on servers But if you'd like to see my specs too dont see any harm in a 5th person checking them out

[editline]23rd February 2014[/editline] It could be the Authentication servers giving you trouble. I had similar issues last week and it turned out to be the Auth servers giving me grief. Make sure you are actually logged into STEAM. It may look like you are but rry logging out and back into STEAM. If you get an error then that's your issue.

Do you have anything running in the background or on another computer, I get DC'ed when my wife watches her TVPAD, sometimes it wont even show available servers.

@Frog - nothing running in background nor another PC. @Cable Guy - I'm reinstalling Rust for second time then trying to join a server. If nothing works ill relog into steam and see if that"ll work. I'll post back after those two things

You've reinstalled twice without even logging in/out of steam? Try that, you're probably missing a small update or something. Logging out and in again is the best way for Steam to grab updates in my experience.

This time i did log out then back in to reinstall it since i forgot the first time. Almost done to try to join a server [editline]23rd February 2014[/editline] i dont know if this will help but when i hit F1 i get skipped frame because GfxDevice is in invalid state (device lost)

The skipped frame is something that happens when the game has lost focus, so like when you alt-tab or something. Not a big deal but alt-tabbing does cause some people some issues.

Ah yeah right as i posted that two buddies im on TS with sad they have it as well. I'm still not able to join any servers, getting annoying lol

I'm having the same problem as well, and when I try to Exit the game, the game freezes and I'm forced to restart my computer.

Not really, but could cause an issue. Update your DX to 10.1 or better. try dx11

Actually already had DX11, must of forgot about it. One of my buddies said only thing he can think of is to upgrade my ram.

yeah, when i checked it said i met it or i wouldn't have even given it a try. Only thing i can think of is i read it wrong or i dont know what. Personally im at the point of just giving up. Say i set the Intiial size and maximum size myself so i could possibly raise that 1275 to a higher number if you follow me.

Ive seen that Gfx error a bit, it's been a bug for a while. Try a manual connect to a server? Press F1 and type in net.connect serverip:port I don't know any others but try mine: net.connect 146.185.29.237:28025 Then also check the console for errors!
