The metal and wood node system in the game isn't very immersive. Instead, my suggestion would be to have metal nodes spawn only on or near mountainous regions and wood nodes only in or around forested areas. The denser the rock/forest, the more such nodes should appear.
I hope they do something like this in the future. And expand on it like crazy. Different regions, terrains and climates in the game with area specific resources and animals better suited to the conditions that they would need to be found in real life.
That way people would choose to put their base in area based on those resources. People would have valuable items to trade and it would create reasons for others to trespass and fight for those lands.
Yes, would be similar to Settlers of Catan, haha.
I agree, except my house is in the mountains. I've successfully made it weeks without getting bothered, because nobody bothers exploring there currently.
I agree on this, resources should be geographical relevant.
I disagree whole heartedly. Nodes that are combined in resource areas for a reason because if you didn't there would be campers waiting for spawns.
If your like me and only build metal bases well let's just say you would be singing high notes from my bow if you were camp farming nodes in the area I was farming
I think what would be balanced is if the MAJORITY of metal rocks spawned on the mountains but some should still spawn in valleys and woods, only a few
There should be no wood piles. Have trees give more wood.
And somehow have the minerals ("metal", "sulfur", "stones") somehow spawn on the face of the mountains in the actual rocks so you have to go up around in the mountains looking for minerals.

I think the ressource should spanw randomly anywhere or about anywhere. Not at the same place.
This will make the game just a little bit harder and longer and I would welcome it with open arms. No more being able to horde a spot where everything spawns in masses. You will actually have to make trips around the whole map to create something.
This would be awesome. Expand further by even having mines to go into.
I would just start killing everyone I see and take their resources.
When I look around here... There are no stones where I could get sulfur and metal ore. Only stone.
There should be real mines. A sulfur mine where you maybe get constant damage if you don't have anything to protect your mouth/nose. And metal mines, of course. And real forests.
Having resources centralized, forces people to build around the resources. The people that build around the resources are a bigger target for raiding because of this. The tradeoff is to build further away from the resources and have to run the resources further back home.
Personally i like the centralized resources. I also like the idea of specific types of centralized resources
