No matter how much ranged weapons are nerfed, all those sweet melee weapons the devs spent precious time making are essentially [B]worthless.[/B] Here's why:
The map is almost completely even across the board, with few exceptions like more oil in the desert and freezing snowlands requiring jackets.
Being a fresh spawn can hardly save you from decked out bandits looting the same places as you (I know this is slated to change somewhat, but still).
First off, spawning should be more centralized to one side of the map, giving room for progression across in a branch-out fashion.
Loot areas and resources should be better organized to a ratio of danger/distance from spawn.
This isn't about making the map linear, but geared up players shouldn't be giving a sh*t about small radtowns and be separate from the spear throwers.
What other problems you guys think need addressing with the current map??
I think simple weapon gameplay is definitely missing out here. One of the devs did say he was going to start focusing on early game more. I would love shields, swords, maces in the gameplay. I also want prone positions too for sneaky gameplay. I was watching some youtubers play another similar survival game and they were having a great time in early game. I'm sure they will eventually get this right.
agreed that currently melee weapons are worthless. throwing them increases their worth a little bit, but even with 6 weapons in their slots to throw, you are still easily outclassed by any gun.
i think they need to A) make the higher tier guns uncraftable. and B) make the ammo for them uncraftable. this will make them a rare commodity instead of the standard for combat, and give a player the chance to close the gap due to crappy gun accuracy.
naturally they would need to balance it; ranged weapons should always have the advantage over melee weapons at mid to long ranges. but at the moment the balance is entirely out, and melee weapons have become redundant as a whole.

what stops me from sitting in a tower with an AK and a Bolt at the fresh spawn points when im bored? because that is totally something i could picture people do
