I would like to kickstart the thread with the AR/AK
What is the general opinion of the AK after the nerf? I have only played about 100 hours of "new rust", and those 100 hours have been after the nerf.
About 30 hours of those 100 have been on deathmatch type servers, with free AK/bolt after every spawn. And let me put it like this:
I hit absolutely nothing with the AK, in medium/long range "duels", after a mag, people either swap to stompson or bolt(if they even wait a full mag with AK) and end it quick. Short-medium duels people go full cs 1.6 and spray foot height and hope for the best.
The recoil is the absolute killer for me, i have serious problems shooting 2-3 rounds in quick succession in the same general direction and often tend to either get rekt or swap to bolt, i can get (100-200 meter according to server mod) kills on moving targets with the bolt action rifle, but i legit have problems headshotting someone looting at medium range with the AK.
The m4 in old rust was never a weapon meant for spraying people down across vast distances, it took time and efford to become a dreaded m4 shooter, and powerfull weapons absolutely SHOULD have an amount of recoil forcing you to think about what you were doing. The m4 was fantastic and i know for a fact that alot of people miss it.
I might have some serious l2p issues :suicide: but people i play with have lots of time put into new rust, and tell me they dont like the AK either. I rarely see people in the chat getting AK kills further than 35 meters (again modded servers), what i see is 8 meter Bolt headshots and/or 90 meter pistol kills.
What are your thoughts? Is the AK your weapon of choice, or do you prefer the beloved Bolt Action Rifle with a backup Thompson if circumstances become too dire? Because as far as im concerned, the AK makes absolutely no sense to use on a server where i have to craft or loot it myself.
I have also noticed 2 bugs:
Sometimes when you swap to a weapon you are unable to fire it or aim with it, it pretty much just sits in the middle of your screen and laughs at you while you get shot, swapping back a forth a couple of times usually fix this, but its not ideal when people are shooting at you
Another bug was with a specific AK we had lying around in the base, it was modded with a silencer and had the above mentionend bug as a permanent state, we tried to repair it and everything but it never fired a round again, it was absolutely useless, and we ended up trying to trade it with someone for shits and giggles, but eventually gave up, other AKs with silencer has worked though so i guess its not silencer specific.

I was hoping for AK sound samples to be honest... Well AK is currently maybe a little underpowered BUT it used to be overpowered. So that's where we are now, balancing will happen probably in some months.

Another 120 hours of AK only play on battlefield type server helped alot, but i still find AK recoil to be retarded to say the least, when you compare it to stompson or even m249.
i know m249 isnt around that much on regular servers, but it literally only has vertical recoil, and not even alot of it
